Richard Solo 1200 Backup Battery for iPhone - Product Review
Hello everyone, how are we doing today? Today I’m going to be doing a pretty different review from my normal ones actually. It’s not going to be an application, its not going to be casing. What I’m going to be reviewing today is the Richard Solo 1200 backup battery for your iPhone and iPod device. It works on every iPhone generation and ever model of the iPod, excluding the iPod shuffle. We will actually get to see what is included inside the box, you have your documentation which is like your manuals, your instructions and what not and then you have all three accessories necessary to actually start running and charging your backup battery.
Over here on the left is the actual backup battery itself. This middle is your retractable USB cable used to actually be charging the iPod and the battery itself. This is a wall charger, pretty big necessity, that’s how you’re actually going to be getting your electrical juices to actually charge the device and actually charge your iPod or iPhone. So really quick, really easy, I’ll show you how it actually works. You take the USB end of the retractable battery or the retractable chord and you plug it into the wall charger, so there we go. And now we’ll actually plug the wall charger into the side of my camera like that, we’ll say this over here is the wall and then over here, take that out. Go pretty far actually and you plug this end into the bottom of the actual backup battery. So now, my backup battery will be taking juices, but the cool thing about this is that if I were to plug in my iPod or my iPhone while the backup battery was taking charge from my wall charger. It will begin to actually charge my iPod or my iPhone way before it will even charge this.
The juices will go through the chord, through the backup battery and it will start charging your iPod or your iPhone before it charges the backup battery, so if you don’t want to constantly have this plugged into your iPod while you're out in the public, out on the run, out doing stuff. Then it will make sure this is fully charged before it starts charging your backup battery. The cool thing about this backup battery is it doesn’t add a few hours of life into your iPod or your iPhone. It completely doubles the battery life to your iPod or iPhone for any model, it will double the battery life, so my iPod model right here gets 36hours of audio life and six hours of video life. If I had this backup, battery fully charged and I plug it into my iPod, once my iPod is dead, my iPod will be overall will be able to get 72 hours of audio life and 12 hours of video life. That is completely doubled, the batter life it completely doubles it, or if you don’t want to, if you don’t want to wait until your iPod or iPhone is dead. This is a great device for topping off your iPod.
You always see those little modifications on iPod, touches and iPhone where it says 20% of battery life remaining; it’s pretty much just telling you that your iPod or iPhone is almost dead. You plug this into your iPod or iPhone, this doesn’t need to be here anymore, you just plug in the battery pack into your iPod or iPhone and it will top it off. That’s what it’s technically called pretty much and it will top off your device and what that means is that you will get another full charge. You can get a few full charges out of this really which is a really nice feature about it because its just a sleek compact design, I’ll actually show you more about the battery itself. Now, okay so this is my actual battery itself, this is what we’re going to be plugging into the iPod or the iPhone. It’s really sleek; it’s completely round around all the edges, very similar to the iPod and iPhone.
The size comparison to my iPod touch, it’s about half the size of my iPod touch in length. The thickness, it’s a little bit thicker but really not too noticeable, nothing to bulky. The width, it’s smaller than the actual width of the iPod touch and it’s down right on the bottom, its round, very similar to the iPhone models. It works great with the iPhone 3G, it works with the iPhone 3GS which just was released today actually I believe. And a cool little feature, just a little added incentive about the actual battery itself, be careful it might blind you a bit, I did when I first tried it. Is that it has a light, it has a flashlight at the bottom of the device, so you switch on if I can, there you go and it’s got a little flashlight. Nothing too big, that’s probably not what's going to make you actually buy this device but it is a little nice added incentive and its not a little crappy little run down weak flashlight. It’s pretty bright and first I was looking at this battery I saw that, I didn’t know what that was so I flashed this on because I though that was turning it on and that pretty much that just blinded myself because it actually really hurt.
So it’s a really strong, powerful flashlight. This works great on all iPod and all iPhone models excluding the iPod shuffle and it’s very simple, so like I was saying earlier. When you use all your accessories and you’re actually charging the battery pack itself. These three LED’s right up here will actually tell you how it’s working really right now. There’s three different ones, there's a long, a medium and a there's like the lightning bolt one. These will tell you whether the battery pack is giving or receiving a charge from your wall or if it’s giving the charge to your iPod or your iPhone model. It will tell you if the battery pack is fully charged, if it’s near dead. If it doesn’t need to be charged anymore, if it’s charging the iPod first and then it’s going to receive the charge that is all explained in your manual documentation given with the Richard Solo 1200.
One more time, what I’m going to tell you to do, check over here on the more info, I will tell you to do that. Cool little incentive, if you guys want to go out and buy this, this specific model, the Richard Solo 1200, its temporarily on sale right now. I don’t know how long it’s going to be on sale for but a cool little thing, it’s on sale for $34.95. If you go to this website, tell them that I sent you over there and if you go to this website when you actually go to buy the iPod model or if you’re going to buy the iPod backup battery, if you type in this code. I have the code over here on the more info, but if you type in the code TIK, T-I-K, you will get an extra 15% off of the already on sale product, which is a pretty sweet little deal. Its about less than $30.00 bucks actually I believe which is really nice. Get it while it’s on sale and this little code that I have for you guys, the TIK code, its only going to be good until July 7, so you do want to do this as soon as possible. I definitely recommend going to check it out, here’s all the little stuff on the back, the little specs, what's included.
It tells you about the flashlight and stuff and on the back of this box is it tells you that there's a 90-day warranty, that’s not true. There is a one year warranty now for all of their models, so for all of the Richard Solo battery back ups and every product that they have, it says 90 day warranty on the back of the box. Scratch that, that’s not true anymore, they have now upped the warranty to be a full year, so it’s a higher warranty now, so you know there are iPod model, the backup battery is going to be a lot safer. That’s definitely a nice little feature about it. Also, some other cool little features about this, this is a polymer, it is virtually scratch proof, and its pretty hard for this to take any damage at all, it’s an extremely safe, extremely durable product. Its not going to be taking any scratches at all really, we can try to get it—nothings happening, no scratches are being given to it, you can see right there.
It is actually going to be a lithium ion battery that is the strongest type of battery available, so this battery packs. I know a lot of batteries that are backup batteries for devices; they go really quickly, like less than a year of actual life. This lasts quite a few years actually because lithium ion, its the strongest battery, so you can charge this for a few years before it actually goes out which is by far one of the best types of battery backups that I’ve actually seen. Usually they don’t last that long but this one lasts quite awhile.
So one more really quick run through about what's everything’s included and actually, how it really works, this is the Richard Solo 1200 smart backup battery for the iPhone and iPod touch. It works on every iPod and iPhone model excluding the iPod shuffle. It is a virtually scratchproof polymer lithium ion battery backup for the iPhone and iPod models. Very simply it has the three LED’s indicating how it’s taking or how it’s giving the charge. You plug it into the bottom of the iPod or the iPhone into its thirty-pin USB connector and immediately it will start giving the charge or it will start filling up your iPod or iPhone with its battery backup. It allows a double the batter life feature, so my iPod, 36 hours of audio life, six hours of video life. That will double it to 72 hours of audio life and 12 hours of video life, so it completely doubles the lifetime for the battery. That’s a great feature about it, one more quick feature, it’s got a little flashlight at the bottom of it but anyway that’s not why you're going to buy it guys. This is a great product.
I have more to come from Richard Solo though; I got a little bit of a bigger box that’s coming up next. I got two more things coming for you guys, aside from this 1200. In my next review, I will be reviewing the 1800, it’s a bigger—pretty much—it’s a little bit more expensive though because it is a better product. It’s got a lot more stuff included with it, it allows you to have more access, it’s the same battery life, so nothing bigger there but it has like a car charger and stuff. It’s got a laser pointer, which is pretty cool; it has a few different more accessories that are included with it, so that’s going to be my next review. The Richard Solo 1800, and then also within that next review for the 1800, I will also be hosting a case give away for an iPhone 3G. its one of the cases from Richard Solo, so that will be on my next give away but one more time, Richard Solo 1200. Check over here on the more info for my full written review on it and also the link to find out where you can pick up yours. Remember that I sent you over there for the code TIK, you get 15% off, they’re already on sale product, I will talk to you guys later, have a fantastic day.
