Hey Guys, SnazzyiPhoneHacker here with the review on the Richard Solo 1800 and Richard Solo 1800 custom case for iPhone 3G.
I thank Paul Atalli and Richard Solo for sending these out to me. I really appreciate it guys, thanks a lot for it. This is $69.95 from RichardSolo.com great price for a great battery. It’s in 1800 because it has 1800 milliamps of capacity and this is the snap on model that just snaps on the bottom of your iPhone, not the one with the cable. But they have a new one with the cable which is great for using this with the iPhone 3G, 3Gs, iPod Touches, and it works with iPod Nano’s since you don’t have to worry about the cable, I mean the snap on getting the way of the headphone jack.
Anyways, this battery looks awesome. It comes with a lot of goodies guys which I love. You know I love this. One key important note on the battery is that the warranty is now a full year, which is great, they did a great job with that, they extended the warranty on the battery. So the warranty of the battery is now one full year. I think it used to be like 90 days or something like that.
But you got two little pieces inside the box, you have your Richard Solo 1800 inside this one. Alright, so here we go, looks good. And it had some little instruction book but we don’t need those. Then you have a lot of goodies in here, okay. First off, they include an awesome dual USB port car charger. This is great guys, you can charge up your 1800 and your iPhone the same time, that’s great guys, I really like that. And they include an awesome retractable mini-USB to USB cord. These are great for travel, really compact guys. And if you want to just have like these for your computer, it’s a short cable and it goes long so I love this a lot guys, I’m really that they included that. That’s a really nice piece.
And also, when you buy a Richard Solo 1800, you get the custom case free as a gift which is great. I’m not sure if they do that on 1200 but I really think that it’s really cool that they included the custom case. So yeah, you get the mini USB-to-USB retractable charger, the product itself which looks awesome guys, I really like the lightweight. And also you get inside here a wall charger, which is for the Richard Solo although this could also be used for your iPhone since it has that same USB-to-AC Wall Adapter. And then you have a little adapter piece if you want to use this with an iPod Touch second Generation I believe. See? Second Gen, and that’s great so all those goodies is great to have, in fact that they give you a free gift of Richard Solo custom case is awesome. Just to let you know, this will not show in your checkout, but its sent along with 1800.
So first things first, you guys can see this does have a look and feel of the iPhone 3G itself. Chromed vessel on each pretty much although this is not Chrome, it’s like a Matte-finish, it looks really nice though, a really nice finish on both side, you guys have a light and a laser, two buttons, and you have to make sure you have it on for those to work. So you guys can see. That’s the laser. It works guys, the laser works and so does the flashlight. Great things to have if you have this in your backpack or if you have business meeting and you need to point to something on your board which is great.
Two buttons on the sides, pop-out the protective piece. And then you have a straight dot that you are pointing at there which is great to have, right? So before I connect this to the iPhone, I’m going to show you what this custom case is for.
This custom case is for the iPhone 3G. It protects your phone and it’s designed to work with the 1800 alright. It’s a two piece case, alright. It’s pretty much like an incase slider or Griffin: Elan From Graphite like what I have and as you guys could see, two pieces for this and two pieces for my Griffin: Elan Form Graphite, so the comparison there. The feel of this, I'm not going to lie, this is just like a little piece of plastic, probably carbonate or whatever that they draw in with this, but no, some protection is better than no protection, that’s my motto pretty much. I’d rather have this that have nothing on my iPhone and it doesn’t look that bad, I mean it’s a pretty nice matte black. I mean blacked out, it looks pretty cool.
Alright, so let’s slide my iPhone in here. The only thing I’m worried about with these types of cases that whenever I use a slider case, it always seem to push up the screen shield, but you do not really have that problem with this case which is great, you guys can see my screen shield is still pristine. And then you have the bottom piece that slides on just like any other slider case and nice little snapping closure there, Richard Solo. I mean it looks pretty good. The cutout for the camera is big but perfect. Awesome top up there, sides are just probably fine. I mean it’s just pretty much a case that you can use with the 1800 since it has that cutout in the back.
So now that the case is on, let’s took up the 1800. Press the two buttons on the side that way it retracts and you slip it in. You guys can see I’m now charging and you guys can see there is a one light on the Richard Solo. I have to look into more information for what the three lights mean. But I believe that it does have to show you how much charge is left in the battery or how much charge is left in your iPhone, alright.
So, before I finish up here, I want to show you guys how great this is. I had my wall adapter right here, so I'm going to plug this in. So I have the wall adapter plugged in and the retractable USB, take that out real quick. I’m going to pull it up. I’m not sure if it will reach all the way up to my desk, hopefully. Alright so, you guys can see here that I plugged it in. So now basically what I’m doing is I am charging—you have the green light here which shows that I am charging my 1800. Alright guys, so green light means you’re charging 1800 and if I have this in, I can charge both at the same time which is really cool but you do that have that cable in your way, so really can’t go anywhere with it.
Enough for that, back to the review of the Richard Solo 1800 so you guys can see here, really nice and compact, great for traveling. I’m going to use this as my backup wallet charger so that’s great. As far as the case goes with this product, it goes really well guys, they are like companions. It’s pretty much they’re made for each other, that’s all I can say. It does support it a little bit which is great and you guys can see here that it pretty much makes your iPhone like twice as long.
Size comparison real quick, I wasn’t kidding when I said twice as long because this is pretty much the same size and height as the iPhone 3G. This thing is like a mini-iPhone. If you put a screen right here, it would be a mini-iPhone because this is pretty much the same thickness, a little thinner than the iPhone 3G, but it has that nice curves that the iPhone 3G has. But it has the same like chrome-type looking around the edge, really nice. And it pretty much looks like you have two mini-iPhones. Laser works great. Flashllight works great. And what’s cool is that is you have this plugged in, you can still use your flashlight and you can still use your laser.
It feels good in the hand, it does not add a lot of weight which is great because you can still put this against your and it would still be totally lightweight, it doesn’t really feel like it’s dragging your arm down. As far as support goes, it does jiggle a little bit but that is not a big deal since it’s not really going anywhere. It is really connected to your iPhone pretty tightly. It has a really nice cutout groove there so that way it doesn’t interfere with your home button. Complete access and as you guys can see, I was on ‘92 before and now I’m now I’m on ‘94, It is charging very well.
One of the big problems I have with my iPhone 3G is that battery life really was pretty sub-part of my iPhone 3G especially when I’m like always on the web, checking my email and using my iPod, watching videos, I really need to tell you that I need to double my battery life and this comes in great handy for that, okay guys. Really helps out with your battery life and it’s just a great companion for your iPhone 3G. I highly recommend this product. Checkout RichardSolo.com for the 1800, for the iPhone 3G and they ever make it for the BlackBerry Storm, checkout NJDevilFan26. NJDevilFan26 has a good review on some Richard Solo products also and he has a BlackBerry Storm.
This product is great guys. I really like it. I'm curious to see if I can use this, plug-it-in, and it plugs into something else to see if it will charge. Another product, not so sure about that, but maybe I’ll get back to you guys later on and let you know how it’s going. Future giveaway, I’m not sure I’ll let you guys know in a later chat but thanks for watching. Peace out, this is Snazzy iPhone Hacker. Subscribe.
