Rihanna's Rude Boy Guitar Lesson Part 2/2
So I’m going to start off the same way as we did before. We’re going to get bass, bass,
chord on the Am and then from there we’re going to get a Bm7 chord which is going to
look like this. If we’re already here on our Em, in this case using our first and second
fingers, all you have to do is move your third finger down to the G string second fret and
we’re going to add our third finger on the B string third fret.
So we’re going to get second fret open, second fret, third fret and potentially open A on
the bottom as well, so it should sound like that, it’s a funky Bm7. So we’ve got Am, and
then that same strumming as before down, up, down, up, down and then we’re going to
move to a full C chord which is our first finger, second finger, third finger. I’m going to
assume that you’ve got these easier chords already. If you have any hustles with them
check out my chord lesson on my guitar skills.
Good old C chord, and then from there now we start on the C bass, bass, strum so the A
string is our bass. And then from there we’re going to switch over to Am so keep that
first finger there that will link it in nicely for you, first finger, second finger, third finger.
So all you’ve got to do is move that third down and we’re going to get bass, bass, strum
A string for our bass.
And then from there down, up, down, up, down and then back to that Bm7 for down
strum. All the way through that nice and slow, that can take a while to get especially the
transitions getting between the chords. One more time even slower, so that should sort
you out. You can always run back and check it out again. It isn’t something that you get
instantly, takes a little bit of work.
From there, we’ve got our bridge section which is going to be Am, G, D, and we’ve got a
bit of C in there which you’ve already done. And here’s what we’re going to get, we’ll
start with Am for two, G for two, D for four. So that strumming rhythm on the D there is
down, down, down, up, up, down, down. So that again Am, G, D down-down-down-up-
up-down-down. Give it twice again Am, G, D.
Then from there, we’re going to do the same thing again but we’re going to twist around
slightly. Over on the tab there a Bm chord but I’ll change mind to say as I think actually
now it is a G chord but just with a B bass. So all we’re going to do is take away our
second finger so it’s actually a little easier. So Am, G but without the G bass so it’s a B
bass so we don’t hit the fat A string on the top we just go from the A string.
D again and then from there C for a bar and we’re just going to get sort of all down
strums here, and D for the final bar is just full out strumming, All of that through, through
the bridge, back into your chorus from there. So there’s all your last sections.
So plenty of challenges there and plenty of room for you to develop it, remember you
always just got the simple easy version at the start make it grow from there. You can add
those beats in. We’ve got three layers to with the bass, the bass a little bit more and then
the four chords, the bridge that’s the only that you got to get super straight, but it’s pretty
straight head chords.
You don’t have to do all the funky strumming, just get through it. Make sure that you can
get through it, that’s the important thing. There’s no point trying to get something
absolutely perfect if you’re going to find yourself quitting because you think it’s too hard.
So always cut things down to make them simpler if you need to, to able to get through
this song.
So there you go, there it is, Rude Boy on to the acoustic guitar for you to build out and be
