Todd: Hi! My name is Todd and I live in Brooklyn, New York. Recently I discovered a rash on my foot, and I am wondering what the differences between ringworm and athlete's foot?

Dr. Jenny Kim: Well Todd, ringworm and athlete's foot is basically same thing. Ringworm is just a common way of describing athlete's foot or a different name. They are both caused by fungus that are found on our skin and they can grow and cause rash. But you have to remember there are other cause of rash on your feet, so you have to see a dermatologist to make sure that the ringworm or athlete's feet is the cause of your rash and not something serious.
