The Geneva Auto Show wouldn't be what it is without Frank Rinderknecht's quirky concepts. His company Rinspeed has shown some of them the most outrageous concepts in the past couple of years and it's become the real tradition here in Geneva.
This year Rinspeed is showing the iChange, one of the most futuristic cars of this show. It's an electric sports car, 177 horsepower. It's got solar panels on the roof. The car is a three-seater, with the central driver seat and two seats behind it. You're sitting very low to the ground. Top speed of the iChange is 220 kilometers per hour, that's about a 135 miles per hour.
What's cool about the iChange is that you can have it as the one seater or the three-seater. If the roof is raised, then you've enough room for rear two passengers. If you lower the roof, you get improved aerodynamics. You can go faster, you're driving even more efficiently, but you only have room for one person, only for the driver.
Like all Rinspeed concept cars of the past few years, the iChange won't go into production. Well, the company hopes to get some engineering contracts and inspire carmakers to look at some of the cool ideas this concept is based.
