The Rob Roy cocktail. As you might expect by the name, it’s made with scotch.
Welcome to the Cocktail Spirit from Small Screen Network, I'm your host Robert Hess.
Now the Rob Roy cocktail is a fairly old drink. It actually shows the introduction of blended scotch in America because it was originally created with one of the first blended scotches to come into America, Doursch, that where you use for all cocktail.
We start it off with an ounce and a half of blended scotch. And then a half ounce of sweet vermouth. And a dash of Angostura aromatic bitters.
If you're paying attention, you might notice what I did is created a Manhattan. Just rather than using American whiskey, I switch to scotch whiskey instead. And that’s the difference with your Manhattan and a Rob Roy.
Then we add our ice. And stir. We strain in to our cocktail glass. And garnish with a lemon twist. You could use a cherry in this if you want to, but I prefer with a lemon twist. And there we have the Rob Roy.
