Troy: Welcome back to Dad Labs and I am daddy Troy. We are back to the Maker Faire in Austin, Texas. Today's subject model rockets. Here I am with James Duffy from the Austin Area Rocketry Group, and a rocket or rocketry group?
James Duffy: Rocketry Group.
Troy: And they are here in the Maker Faire and they are helping kids make and launch rockets.
James Duffy: Their very own rockets and we are teaching them to be rocket scientists in 30 minutes or less.
Troy: So, James Duffy, I am a dad I want to do this. I have never done it before. I go to the hobby store what do I buy?
James Duffy: Well, you will buy what's probably called a starter set. It will be a simple package. It will have a rocket kit, not unlike this. It will have a few rocket motors. It will have the launch pad you need to launch the rocket and the electrical launch control system. Whole thing shouldn't cost more then $20 or $30.
Troy: If a dad really wasn't sure what to do or was uncomfortable go to a hobby shop or wanted to get involved in a group like yours. Are the groups like your all across the nation?
James Duffy: All across the country. They are EEE and National Association of Rocketry Groups. It's very easy to find these organizations. Just go visit the National Association of Rocketry website, nar.org or the EEE website at eee.org.
Troy: And so you guys are going to be launching here today, right?
James Duffy: Right outside.
Troy: Let's go check that out. Well, that's all for this week. We'll see next time on dadlabs.com.
