Hi, this is Mike Callahan, Dr. File Finder. And welcome back to part three of our special ten-part series on Winamp Media Player. Now part three, we’re going to look at playing our music in Winamp. And Winamp has a lot of cool features.
Select the song here, Bob Seger. Move to play. You can see from here, you can play the previous song, play the song that we have highlighted. Pause the song if it’s playing, stop it, go into the next song. We can do advanced playback which goes to the start of the list. It stops and then fades out or it stops after the current song as finished. We can jump to a specific track. We can go back ten tracks or forward ten tracks. Jump to a particular time or to the start of the list to the end of the list. We can go back five seconds or forward five seconds which is handy for lead guitar players. We can repeat the song that’s playing, shuffle our songs and move the volume up and down.
Another really cool feature with Winamp is the ability to enqueue a selection into the playlist editor, which is up here. So, we’ll take this song, Betty Lou’s Getting Out Tonight. Right-click, go to Enqueue Selection. Now if we go up here, move down and this is Betty Lou’s Getting Out Tonight which I just started playing. I wish you could here because it sounds so good. But on the other hand, it would wipe out my voice.
So, that’s a very handy feature and then with this playlist editor, you can play individual items, you can send them to a regular playlist. The nice thing I’ve been able to enqueue is that you can do that on the fly, wipe this out and the next morning start a new one. And at the same time, you can keep your playlist that you create. If you get wondering today that you think it’s really good, you can make it into a regular playlist and burn it to a CD.
So, there’s lots of cool options for playing music in Winamp. You got to see interesting thins about the current song. The things that are on YouTube, videos you can go and see, and see the album art here. You can also view the equalizer if you want and move around and change the sound. So that concludes part three, and that’s all there is to it.
