Hi, this is Mike Callahan, Dr. File Finder. And welcome back to part four of our special ten-part series on Winamp Media Player. Now on part four, we’re going to look at Winamp’s unique ability to play all of your media remotely.
Now when you install Winamp, it installs an icon for Winamp Remote and offers to help you set it up. Delivery simple all that requires is you create a username, a password and if you want you give it your email address and you’re all setup. So we’ll click on Remote Media. Here’s the log-in screen.
And Winamp Remote let’s you do is take the media that’s on your PC and be able to watch it and here it on the web, on your mobile device, on your Wii, PS3 or Xbox and even share it with your friends. So we’ll sign in.
I only have a few things up here that I’m sharing. But as you can see, I have some files that I’ve put up here for the purpose of sharing. And what I can do is share folders that are accessed by Winamp Remote. So that when I’m online, I can listen to my music or watch my videos from any browser, from any place that I go. I could also look at to my music and my mobile phone through the browser. It doesn’t work with every single phone and every single device, but it works with the majority of them and as I said, it’s still on Beta test and they’re working out the kinks.
And so, this is a wonderful way to be able to have your music and – all we have it in one location to be able to play it, enjoy it and appreciate it in multiple locations. So this is Winamp’s Remote feature and that concludes part four.
