Liked the new Mustang GT? Then you got to love what the guys that Roush have in store for the latest Ford pony car. They call it the 427R and for the first time, Roush is able to offer this package alongside the recently launched 2010 Mustang.
So what does the $14,156 427R package offer? A host of exterior and interior upgrades but most importantly an intercooled r coat Roots style supercharger bolted to the Mustang's 4.6 liter V8. Roush technicians have also upgraded the engine control module, radiator and intake to accommodate the extra output. How much extra output? Power jumps from the stock Mustang's 350 horses to 435 in the 427R, torque goes form 325 pound feet to 400. At the track, this amounts to 0-60 time of 4.7 seconds, the quarter mile comes in at 13.1 seconds at a 108.8 miles per hour.
R427R came with a host of options including 20 inch wheels, sticky Dunlop tires and a Performance Brake Package, these help to halt the 427R to a stop in at 111 feet. To ensure the Mustang doesn't just look good and go fast in a straight line, the 427R package includes a 4 suspension upgrade. On the skid pad, this allows the 427R to pull 0.90g laterally and cut up our Figure-8 course in 25.5 second at 0.75g.
Still want more? Well, you are in luck, because Roush has a number of additional performance and styling accessories for the Mustang, including graphics packages, signatures swayed seat inserts, a trick, vent mounted boost gage, and Short Throw shift kit with cue ball shift knot. Add them up however and you've got a Mustang the cars well over $55,000. Is it worth it? That you'll have to decide for yourself.
