Phil: Hi! My name is Phil. I am from Columbus, Ohio, and I was just wondering can you get vaccinated for STDs? Lisa Flowers: Hello Phil! The only FDA-approved vaccine against sexually transmitted disease is Gardasil which is directed towards a Human Papillomavirus, in particular, HPV Type 16 and 18 which cause 70% of cervical cancer and HPV 6 and 11 which cause 90% of genital warts. This vaccine is available for women ages 9 to 26 years of age for the protection against the HPV types that I just described. Currently, there are studies looking at using this vaccine in men, but they are not available to the general public.
