Safari 4.0 has tried to make your browsing experience faster and easier. In many ways, it has succeeded. Safari 4.0 includes the Smart Address Field which makes it easy to visit your favorite sites, your recently visited sites and your bookmarked sites just by typing a couple of characters.

Safari 4.0 in the wild - #3 - The Safari Address Bar is Smarter Than Ever

Hi! This is Mike Callahan, Dr. File Finder and welcome back to our special butterscotch.com 10-part series on Safari 4.0. In this segment we’re going to look briefly at the address bar with a couple of improvements here. One of which is the smart address field. So, as you start to type, Safari will scan your history your and your bookmarks and try to come up with a likely thing that you’re typing. Some will type www.am and there’s Amazon. The other feature is automatically completing the web address so as you can see while I’ve just type in A-M, it shows Amazon that’s where I want to go and the part in blue has already completed it. So all I have to do is press enter and I’m there. So, these are handy features for the address bar that makes it easy because you don’t have to type as much. If I want to go back to butterscotch, there I am, I only typed four characters and I’m back where I wanted to go. As you use Safari more and more your address bar become smarter and smarter and anticipates what it is you’re looking for and where you want to go. Then all you have to do is just pick your destination and off you go. Be reminded that this is a multiple part series and be sure to watch all 10 parts.
