Hi! This is Mike Callahan, Dr. File Finder and welcome back to our special butterscotch.com 10 part series on Safari 4.0.
In this segment, we’re going to look briefly at Safaris ability to enter usernames and passwords and to fill in forms. So here at Safari, we’re going to click on the gear icon for settings, move down to preferences and then you’re going to want to click on the auto-fill tab. Now, you see here you can have auto-fill work with your address book card, with usernames and passwords and with other forms. You click here under address book card and you can fill in the information that you want Safari to have, name and email, your title, nickname, home address, city/state, zip, phone numbers, work, same thing, family information, your birthday, your anniversary, the name of your spouse or partner, notes and so on.
And then any information that you provide with to Safari will be filled when you have forms to fill out. Any information you’ll emit will not be filled. And you can decide whether you want this function to be active or not simply by checking or un-checking it. Usernames and passwords has also an extremely handy function. Here in my butterscotch account, I’ll sign in. Now, when I click submit, Safari is going to get ask me “Would you like to save this password?’ And if you want you can remove or review the passwords you saved in preferences. So, I’m going to say yes, so now I'm signed in. I’m going to sign out and show you how quick and easy this is. If I go back to sign in, there my user name and password are put in and all I have to do is click submit.
If I should want to remove that for any reason, I just click back on the gear icon, go to preferences. I can go into usernames and passwords. There is my information there and I can just go in and say remove or remove all. So, this is a excellent feature of Safari to fill passwords and usernames and form information quickly and easily. Keep in mind that this is a multiple part series and be sure to watch all 10 parts.
