Daddy Troy: The real reason guys back start to go bad is because they carry their kids up and down the stairs all the time because they are afraid their kids might fall down the stairs. Well my big concern is, I live in a two storey house and I was actually thinking about putting in a whole new stair rail and then I found from KidCo this great device that you actually can hook up your distance at stair rail and Carole is going to tell us about that.
Carole Childs: Care Rail system is a a toddler Stairway handrail and basically is designed to help children learn to navigate the stairs. The existing adult handrail is usually too high for them to reach for. When they do reach they are up above their head, they lose their balance and it can cause injuries from falling down the stairs. So, what you can do is install care rail directly underneath the existing adult handrail.
Daddy Troy: Sure.
Carole Childs: Leaving no marks to the walls and it offers the lower point of grasp. So the child doesn't have to reach any higher than their shoulders giving them a nice balance going down the stairs.
Daddy Troy: So that's great, make them independent too.
Carole Childs: It does, they can do it all by themselves. It has a smaller diameter grip so it allows them to actually put their hand around the entire handrail and it has the thumb guide which helps guide them down the stairs. And it actually has a no slip grip pad on the back, so it helps them from skidding down the stairs as well.
Daddy Troy: Okay.
Carole Childs: Now this is just one of the styles that we have. A lot of the older homes in United States have the existing handrail already, that a lot of the newer styles hasn't have those. Two storey entries with the lot of the banisters and the spindle going down the stairs. So we have another installation kit that actually goes around the spindle, so that there is no drilling into the spindle, there is no damage to them as well. So there is one for every purpose related.
Daddy Troy: Super, and how hard is this one? Well that one is really easy to install. How hard is this one to install when somebody is not really hardware inclined.
Carole Childs: Basically just a cordless drill or a screw driver and it goes directly into underneath the existing handrail.
Daddy Troy: Do you mount it to the wall. You have to get like Sheetrock screws and everything, and you know like that?
Carole Childs: No, you don't have to, you can if you want to but there are some pads against here which will help that bump up against the wall.
Daddy Troy: That's super well, it gets thought of everything. I really love this process, it's really cool.
