Dan: Fish with the real right stuff right there. I got 20 pound test line on this sail fish.
And he ate a balihut and we were slow trolling.
Male: Yeah, this is pretty standard for us down here with the 20 pound test.
Dan: So just because it’s so many fish?
Male: Well, most people like to play fish on light tackle. They have no problem doing it
with 20.
Dan: This fish is about 70 pounder?
Male: Well if you have to be sure, between 75 and 80. Lot of fish.
Dan: But there's a lot of porpoises in the water too.
Male: Yeah. When we came into this area with the porpoises, the sail will jump right on.
Dan: Now there he is. Deep color. Alright, good. Alright, another beautiful sail fish.
We're going to come to you. We’ll come to you. Alright, got the hook out. Hook’s
out. Beautiful fish. We're going to go right to Gary. Alright, he's out of here.
Gorgeous.
Gary: Well we normally, with a little wind like this, we should have a little bit better day
than yesterday. Fish tend to come a little quicker with a little bit of a wind. I’d say
we got a 2-4 which is not a common sea for us. We normally you're 1-2 if that,
but we're down here today, 150 degrees. Yesterday we were 200 degrees and
we're now 21 ½ miles and we're in about 700 foot of water. Yesterday, a rather
calmer area for us.
Male2: And the reason we switch areas?
Gary: We switch because the fish have been staying, for the last 6 days in one spot.
Yesterday they sort of slacked off and we just had a feeling of coming over here
to 150 and I guess it was okay. We have three fish up, Dan’s got one right on right
now. I guess it will be a really nice day, its only 10 after 9. So you just can't
complain.
Male2: We did get out trolley lines in the water.
Gary: Yeah, we're only fishing 7-8 minutes.
Dan: Just wind down as I can. Fish has gotten parallel with us right now. He's behind
us. There he is.
Male: There he is. He's right over here. Coming right up. Real nice.
Dan: There's the leader. He might jump right here. They’ve been jumping right up the
boat lately.
Male: Come on, get him up now. Nice sail. Nice sail.
Dan: With the balihut with the little skirt on there.
Male: Yeah, we usually use a blowing white. It seems to be a real popular color. Some
people say that fish are color blind, but blue and white, pink and white work
really well.
