If you work I have tried Vegas. Now I am not telling you to have to try Vegas but normally if you hate what you are doing you are not going to make big bucks. Let me ask you a question, how many of you have heard about Tiger Woods before? Do you know who he is? If do not, you can leave the room. Tiger Woods is a golfer. Of course we know him as a great golfer. Let me ask you this question, how many of you think that he loves golfing? How many of you think he hates golfing? Now think of this, think of Tiger Woods getting up on a Monday morning thinking about going to work. Do you think he gets up saying, “Oh, men I got to go down to this ugly course and look at this ugly green grass and hit this stupid little white ball today, I hate this job.” No, I believe he sleeps with his golf clubs [laughing]. Alright, some people says he wakes up and gets going at about 5 o’clock every morning and jumps in his car and goes to the course. He just loves what he is doing.
Let us think about another athlete. What about Michael Jordan, how many of you heard of him before? What does he say about basketball? I love the game. Why did he come back three times? Love of the game and of course both of those guys made a lot of money because they love their job. Now of course loving the job leads to developing and becoming the best.
Now let us think about a hockey great. What about Wayne Gretzky, how many of you heard of him before? Did he hate hockey? No, Wayne Gretzky, the great one loved the game. He literally wept when he retired, when it was time for him to put up the pock and get away from the game. He literally wept while love of the game.
Now in selling, people that loves sales, sell more. Now does that make sense? Why? When you are having fun, you become more passionate about what you are doing. Again, work becomes play and when work is play, you will make big bucks.
Now keen opportunity to making big bucks is purpose. You are going to have fun but you must have a clear purpose or we say clear money making focus. See, if you just go to work to have fun all day [laughing]. Chances are you would not be focused enough to really make money.
A lot of people in sales, they just love selling so much that they do not learn how to negotiate, they do not learn how to hold gross, they do not know how to make profit for the company. All they do is love just dealing with people. They just love selling themselves. Even in selling you must realize that the purpose in selling is to really make money. Why do you go into sales? To make money.
I heard a saying years ago that everyone’s favorite radio station is WII FM, what is in it for me? Most people want to know, what is in this deal for me? What am I going to get out of this deal?
So in going to work with purpose, going in to sales with purpose, you will make more money. Purpose again means having a clear money making focus and realizing that you are going to work to make money and take care of your family or to promote your business. Again, I believe that selling is an honorable profession. Now the third key in making big bucks is creativity. I love the key creativity, why? Creativity means we become creative in selling and creativity is the mark of every professional--.
