Okay, so the next thing we like to go over is the right turn
(Music playing)
When we are dancing on one track, salsa, want to make sure that we take our right turns inline with our partners, so what we are going to do a straight turn into pivot turn. We are turning to the right, we are going to step forward with the left foot and we are keeping the right foot in place. This is essential because to stay in and out of our basic step, we do not want to actually move randomly, we are want to stay with our partner.
So, stepping forward with the left, on one, here we go
Left, right, feet together, back and close. So, in context with our basic step, we have done forward and close, back and returning, left right, feet together, back and together, left forward and close, back and stepping forward, turn and close, back and together.
Now, the important thing when you are doing this turn is really keep your turn over the right stationary leg. We step forward and push ourselves around. Not ever letting that move, that is the way they were not going to encroach upon our partner. We want to makes sure that we keep our space so, we decided to this together.
We are going to teach you one under arm turn for the girl and then a man change hands and the then the woman right turn. If the lady takes a back step, she turns, he turns, men change hands, women, right turn and basic. Watch that again, she takes a back step, he brings the arm up and she turns, he changes hands behind his back and basic.
Now, the important thing really, first is to learn your foot work, you want to make sure that in the basic step, she can turn, he can turn , she can turn and that you are still moving taking your back step the whole time. So if he starts, she turns, left forward, his left comes forward then her left comes forward and everybody is taking a turn and alternating with the back step so that nobody stands still and gets trampled by the other person’s shoe, that is really what you want to avoid. Stilettos and the top of your foot are paying for. So, watch it one more time, just the feet.
She takes the back step, she takes a turn, her turns, she turns and basic. Now as far as the arms go, the ladies are going to take the right turn when her left foot is forward, that means her body is open toward the left, he only have to lift the arm right in the center just above her head. That means go and because his shoulders are blocking me, that means go here.
So I take my turn, and then he is going to drive his hand down as he steps forward. He is going to switch hands behind the back and finish it off with his right hand. So again, watch that, one four break, she turns, he turns, and she turns and basic and basic. So, if you are watching the last lesson, you would see, we have got two basic and across body lead to bring her across and off toward break through the guy, he comes forwards, she turns, he changes hands behind his back and she turns and basic and basic.
So, these are very, very simple steps but once you got them, you can intersperse them in any salsa that you learned very, very easily. They are very useful to top onto the end, cross body lead, you can do it in between in every single of the thing you learned for the rest of your salsa career, so these are definitely things that you want to having repertoire.
So, one more time, the whole thing, two basic, we are gong to pass each other, cross body, open up, he does a third break, he drops the arm, she turns, left right left, he steps forward, turns, left right for her and we have never lost our footing, we always maintain the stops, five, six, seven, I go back, he goes forward, she turns right, he turns right, she turns right and basic.
