Welcome to Photo Arena’s video review of the Samsung Intensity U450 available for Verizon Wireless. The Intensity is available in two colors gray and flamingo red and is a basic messaging phone with a 2.1 inch display, circular D-pad, numeric dialing pad and sliding QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard has a nice feel to it as the buttons are slightly curved.
The heavy text messagers would probably like the larger keyboard found in the LG ND3. Located on the sides is the volume rocker, charging port, 2.5 millimeter headset jack, camera and voice command buttons. You have to pop the battery cover off to access the micro SD card slot and the 1.3 megapixel camera that’s on the back.
There are three themes included with the phone white, my place and fresh water. The default my place theme shows an image that looks like a class room wall with animated icons for different menus other customization include wallpapers, dialing in menu, fonts and clock styles.
The 1.3 megapixel camera included with the intensity is more of an after though and should not be considered the main felon feature. Pictures have soft edges and generally look blurry with poor color accuracy and saturation. Both the Alias2 and LG ND3 do a better job in this area so don’t expect to use the camera on the intensity for any thing other than a quick on the go pictures.
We were glad to see that the intensity has an updated music player that allows for skins for the equalizer and album art. But multitasking is not supported. Music quality was good through the single ware speaker. They are not as loud as a series of speakers in the ND3.
You can also connect the earbuds to the headset jack or use a stereo blue tooth connection.
In the end we weren’t that impress by the Samsung intensity and found it lacking in several areas. Including the call quality as voice didn’t sound clear in natural on our end due to this and phones overall cheap filling we recommend it only it you need inexpensive messaging phone. But we did care for it more than the Motorola rival.
