Samsung Ultra S – Review
HI, you’re watching PhoneArena’s video review of the Samsung Ultra S. When we first saw the phone, we thought it was quite reminiscent of the—the Ultra Touch yet it is a different device. The screen sports the same —resolution and color support but it’s not touch sensitive and it’s physically smaller. The image quality is great but this change just in a snap when in direct sunlight, with colors turning worn off and things just getting much harder to read.
The soft keys and five-directional D-Pad and both the send and end keys are right below the screen. They all feel comfortable to press but we wish and green and red to functional keys had back writing. The numeric keypad is hidden under the slider and that was great. But unfortunately, is not really comfortable to use. The keys can’t be distinguished to one from another by Touch because they’re flat and flash with the surface. This leads to occasional mistakes well typing in plus they don’t feel really well to press due to their short travel. Now is the time to mention sliding mechanism. It comes in really stout and tightly fitting but there’s excessive friction of both parts against one another and you can hear slight rubbing sound coming out when the phone is being opened or closed. Not that we have any problems it’s just that the whole thing is somewhat unpleasant.
The volume rocker is on the left hand side below the microUSB port and the camera shutter are on the opposite. If you have to use the phone manufactured by Samsung, the interface of the Ultra S would make feel at home from the get-go. All menus remain the same, only nice animations and transition effects are in place. You can easily switch between themes but the best part is you can create your own with the phone itself. The well known fake call function of the Ultra Touch is also here. Activating it, it’s easy just pressing the D-Pad downward which will help you to avoid conversations that you the otherwise you have to take part in and do it in a well managed well.
The music player is actually the same and just come for you as before. It features a—functional design and the variety of options including—. The sound quality through the only loud speaker is good but lacks enough punch. The video player performs admirably and copes with 720X304 pixels resolution, defects and excellent content without a hitch. The movies they’re great on the huge 2.6 inch display with 16 million colors. Let’s go over the camera’s specs before we finish. It has a 5 megapixel that flash beauty with auto focus and easy to use interface that allows geo tagging , face detection and features of bunch of handy options.
The snapshots look nice with vivid and realistic colors and the nav details. But there are some noticeable image noise with the quality of the indoor purchase is not bad either al though noise level is higher. The Samsung Ultra S captures videos such a resolution of 720X480 pixels and 30 frames per second. They have pretty good quality when watched to a normal computer screen. The colors are really stick and there are no logging and slowdowns and we believe they’re totally useable. Browsing through your pictures is easy and comfortable due to the viewed in accelerometer.
Turn the aside to horizontal and the pictures been sideways. Lean it to our side and the images will begin to flow one after another on the screen.
Now, its time we’ll pass our final verdict on the Samsung Ultra S. It is functional indeed. The software doesn’t crash or log it performs admirably on the multimedia front and delivers great in-call quality to both ends of the line. With the Samsung Ultra S, hasn’t hit the shelves yet so its success will ultimately depend on its retailed price. We don’t have any doubts to recommend it to anyone provided it doesn’t come with this deeper price tag. Still, keep in mind there are many other cool multimedia phones that look great and they’re not expensive both the Samsung Pixon and the LG Renoir among them.
