Hi this is David Caris with another two minute guitar trick. Today I’m going to focus on another Santana-type of a riff so if you saw the previous riff and you’ve been practicing that, this will go along very nicely with that. I also want to thank you again for subscribing to my channel and for sending me your comments and emails. And if you have any questions about common recipes like wet pedals, should I use to create certain sounds, you know, we’ll be happy to answer those the best that I can. I’m pretty sure I can help you out if you’re getting stated there and you want to know what pedals are best to achieve certain sounds that you’ve heard from classic rock. But right now I’m going to show you the riff. Last riff which I showed you on the previous riff which was—
[Demonstration]
What we’re going to do today, we’re going to use the same sort of a sound on the guitar and remember we’re going for a Santana sort of a sound and if the riff is.
[Demonstration]
Again.
[Demonstration]
So it could go like—
[Demonstration]
How I’m doing that is I’ve got my index finger on the twelfth fret of the E-string.
[Demonstration]
And then I’m taking my second finger and I’m going to the thirteenth fret, excuse me, fourteenth fret.
[Demonstration]
And then my third finger on the fifteenth fret.
[Demonstration]
So this is what it sounds like so far.
[Demonstration]
Then I’m doing like a trill.
[Demonstration]
Which is I’m hitting a string, the E-string.
[Demonstration]
With my second finger on the thirteenth fret, excuse me, fourteenth fret and then.
[Demonstration]
I’m doing a slur.
[Demonstration]
Into the fifteenth fret with my third finger so it’s—
[Demonstration]
So far—
[Demonstration]
Then I’m doing this.
[Demonstration]
So I’m pulling off.
[Demonstration]
And then I’m hitting this.
[Demonstration]
So when I do that I’m going to.
[Demonstration]
To the pull off.
[Demonstration]
Go back a little sequence with my strumming is using to my right hand.
[Demonstration]
I’m ending up on the B-string at the fifteenth fret with my third finger.
[Demonstration]
And I’m going back down to the E-string on the twelfth fret.
[Demonstration]
And then I’m going to the B-string on the fifteenth fret and I’m doing that—
[Demonstration]
Just like we did in—
[Demonstration]
Put it all together and it’s.
[Demonstration]
Or you can do it as—
[Demonstration]
Slide down if you want to but that’s the riff Okay, let’s do it one more time and I’m going to do it a little bit slower.
[Demonstration]
I’m going to hold back so you can see my other hand.
[Demonstration]
You can hold that note if you want to; that last note a little longer.
[Demonstration]
And again when you want to hold the note out, it’s nice to have some sustain. This is David Caris with another two minute guitar trick. This is easy and you can do it.
