Mike Agerbo: Well when you're on a boat and you want to capture the world around you typically either do that with a digital still photo camera or a video camera. Sometimes it's nice to have those combine into one unit so you haven't got all those gear dragging you down.
So there is a few different devices on the market, this is something new from Sanyo, it's their DMX, sorry they're Xacti DMX-CS1 model. This is kind of close it got a built in video capabilities and also digital still photography as well. It's capable of doing 1080i video. It saves in to an MPEG-4 format, so you can view it on both MAC and PCs quite easily, but it also has a built-in 8 megapixel digital still cameras, well that takes some fairly decent shots.
What I like about the unit is you can see the form factor very thin. It's fits very nicely into our pocket, so again you don't have all that gear dragging you down and it actually pops out with a little view screen here on the side. So it's got a nice large color view finder for taking the photos or the video while you're on the go. As far as the downsides I did find the buttons kind of close together, so sometimes you can accidentally hit the wrong one, but I guess when they're making it this thin and small, there is not a lot room for button placement.
And just one little niggly-piggly thing as well. It got kind of a chrome finish on here that it will seems to attract the fingerprints as well, but again if that doesn't take away from overall video quality and the other photo quality that you get out of it. Again full HD 1080i also takes 8 megapixel still photos as well. From Sanyo the Xacti DMX-CS1 you want to check it out if you want a door camera.
