Hello! And welcome to another episode of Sass N Style. I am your host Amy Salinger. Don't forget, I am going to remind you every single episode, sassnstyle.com, you can go there, get daily style tips from yours truly. Today, we are talking about what some would consider to be an epidemic. It is problem in the world. Shoes. How many pairs can you own? How many is too many? Quick answer. There is never too many. Today, we are going to talk about fabulous shoes, the basics, the fun ones and how to work them into your wardrobe, and how to make them the center of the outfit and how to make them a blendable piece of the outfit. So, here we go, and I am going to show you how to work in the most fabulous shoes into your wardrobe.
The Wedge, often times they are put by the wayside; people don't really think about it, or they say, oh, that's for summer. That's for my cute little sundress. No, no, no. It is a great option instead of a heel. The heel can be really uncomfortable. Your foot is being constantly being pushed forward. You ladies all know what I am talking about; the ball of your foot is killing you by the end of the night. This way, the pressure is dissipated; big word; I am so smart. There is a little bit more balance going on. The key is to have the back of the heel, the back of the wedge I should say, be more delicate, more slender.
You want it to be delicate and sophisticated just like the rest of your sexy little number, so the chunky wedges are going with shorts and summer dresses. The wedge is a great option to wear with your pencil skirts or your dresses or a sexy little outfit. So next up, we have a shoe that I think is super important to own in one's wardrobe: the nude high heel. It is literally elongating your legs. You know when you put on a pair of heels, you are standing differently, your hips are bit more forward, your booty looks a bit hotter. Now, imagine putting on a pair of heels that naturally does that to your stance, that also are nude. So it looks literally the same color as your leg, giving you length and long lustrous legs.
If it is a little bit chilly, you can actually add a pair of nude fishnets, I have talked about them before. So you are continuing the nude look up your leg, elongating your legs, but you are putting a barrier between your leg and the wind, and something on your feet. Now, we are going to talk about something that's seem to plague many, many women, and it should be a simple concept, but no one can seem to get it down. You ask what it is, how to tuck jeans into boots. First things first, it's about the pants. They cannot be wide legs, straight leg; they have got to be super skin tight. We are talking spandex style here folks. So here you see I have this gorgeous just a very, very tight, I-can-barely-breathe pair of pants on.
I want this to be like you can barely get your foot through it. Not to mention that the knee needs to be really, really tight, because you know as well as I do, baggy knee is a problem. When you put the boots on, by the time you get them on your knee is all over the place, and it is all bulky. We don't like that look. I have brought my handy socks so that I can show you what to do with it -- wear funny socks, why not, nobody can see them. You want to fold them up and pull them as tight as we can. You want to keep your legs as straight as possible as if you are standing up.
You are going to put that sock on. You remember the tight roll from the 80's and the one that Katie Holmes has been pulling off lately. Don't ask me what she is doing, don't do it. You are going to tight roll the back of your jeans; it shouldn't be a lot to work with, because it should be that tight. But, you want it as skinny as possible. Now while holding it, pull your sock over it so you have a lovely line going on, pull that boot right on. Bam! Check it out! Jeans and boots. It works. You just need to know how to do it.
Now, as you can see I am still wearing the same base outfit, but just by changing one accessory and my shoes, I have on a completely different look. It only promotes the idea of styling can change everything and owning the right shoes and accessories can literally make you into a different person, you are chameleon. These are actually my metallic flats, they are brand new and I happen to own metallic shoes and heels, sandals and flats, because metallic is a neutral, it will go with anything.
The other great thing about wearing the flat is that, you can change it up by buying different knee highs and different patterns, and make the focal point of your outfit, your feet, that's where all the action is going to be going on. This clearly doesn't go with this outfit, but I am just giving you a little tip. Look at how different both of my feet look. Completely different in looks, same pair of shoes. Last and final outfit is about two pairs of shoes. Basically I want to show you how just by switching over a pair of shoes, you can literally change the entire look and feel of an outfit. These are my blue suede shoes. That's right. We should all own a pair of blue suede shoes.
Obviously, everyone is always scared of colors. They are like, what I am going to do with a pair of bright red shoes or great blue shoes for that matter? And the simple answer is fill the outfit around them make it the focal point. The key is to like I said make sure that the shoe stands out, because it is going to automatically. I also, with this outfit wanted to show you how putting on a pair of tights underneath a pair of colored shoes makes it pop even more, makes it even louder and more focal. And now for the finale, for the most important pair of shoes you will ever own, the black pump. They are probably the one trend that literally will last through time, over and over and over again.
I went with my favs, they are a black pointy-toe patent leather pump. Patent leather is great choice of materials for shoes, because you can beat it up. These shoes have seen everything, we won't get into details. But either way, they still are pretty good and they still make me look sexy and vampy when put together.
