Amy Salinger: Hello and welcome to this edition of Sass and Style with your host, Amy Salinger; today we’re going to be doing the 5-minute make-over, pretty much it’s how to get it done, how to look fabulous, how to do it all head to toe in 5 minutes and be out the door. Of course you’re going to be getting, you know, simple styling tips from yours truly, Amy Salinger, but lucky or you we have a guest star today, make-up artist Laura Nadeau is with us to give us those fabulous tips for your face, fabulous style and tips for your body firming, and in 5 minutes we’re out the door.
So as promised, here we have my beautiful make-up artist friend, Laura Nadeau
Laura Nadeau: Hi, hi!
Amy Salinger: And finally drags in to the video, Olga, my room mate. She usually stands outside the door, and by outside the door, I mean, in the hallway, in the lobby, because that’s how much she has to (--) herself, but I have dragged her and pulled her and she’s ready for her 5-minute make-over.
So now for the first part of this make-over, fabulous make-up tips from the fabulous make-up artist, Laura, take away dear.
Laura Nadeau: Gosh, she’s a lot to love to
Amy Salinger: Yeah I know, you’re right
Laura Nadeau: But Olga’s a perfect model, she has incredible skin, incredible hair, but one of my favorite things for the busy woman which we all are, is tainted moisturizer; you need to moisturize your face anyways, so this is going to moisturize, it’s going to even out your skin tone and even give a little bit of SPF protection, so it’s 3 steps in one. So I just put that evenly all over her face just like a moisturizer. So we, I already put a bronze drawn on her, and it’s a bronze or it’s just to add little warmth and dimension. You can use bronze or near brown, it’s a big C around the eye, now bronze is not super dark to make you look tanner, it’s just a few shades darker than your natural color, let’s say you avoid the artificial color, and since it’s summer and we want to give her a sun-kissed look along with the big C around the face, we can do a little bit on the bridge of the nose, forehead and chin. When you put the powder on, tap it off and go lightly and add to it. I see people going like this, and its big marks all over the face, and then
Amy Salinger: Any face shape
Laura Nadeau: Any face shape
Amy Salinger: Been same system
Laura Nadeau: If you have a smaller forehead, maybe don’t put any, not
Amy Salinger: Okay, okay
Laura Nadeau: If you have a wider forehead you can use it to contour a little bit
Amy Salinger: Interesting
Laura Nadeau: Then the next thing, my favorite product in the world, is Blush; and Blush is the key to life, it get adds dimension, it makes you look awake, it can make your cheek bones look higher, this is what I call a pop color, and it’s just going to be on the apples of the cheek, and if you find your apples, you just smile
Amy Salinger: Smile?
Laura Nadeau: and that is the apple. So when you apply, it’s just going to be a few brushes up, a few brushes down; also don’t be afraid to use bright colors, they’re very sheer in any skin tone. I have this on right now, I have a lot lighter than all this.
Pop color is often quite bright like these two colors. This color you could use this along the cheekbones like we did with the bronze and it’s great, neutral. So just crimple a little bit on the brush, tap it off, smile, do couple of strokes, little down, hah, okay here we go.
Okay on your eyes; catch it very simple, everyone should have a light shimmer shadow. You can even just apply it with your finger; make sure you get a little in the corner, it’s a nice little brightener, did a mascara, a tight dark liner, very simple
Amy Salinger: And I see you’ve done just a little bit of lip gloss on her lips
Laura Nadeau: A little bit of lip gloss, get a lip pencil same color or maybe a little bit darker than your natural color, put it all over your lip as a primer and then it’ll keep your gloss on a lot longer. So you just get a neutral lip pencil, this is a great thing that you can get in a drugstore, save some money
Amy Salinger: If you any have fairly inexpensive, and what have we done with this ridiculous (--) here
Laura Nadeau: Oh my God, when we just started
Amy Salinger: If I have a product to create
Laura Nadeau: Okay, so there’s no fighting humidity in the summer, so you might as well find products to help you embrace it
Amy Salinger: I love your hair
Laura Nadeau: So this is going to define the curls, it’s going to activate curls
Amy Salinger: I’m afraid to frizzle
Laura Nadeau: And it’s going to fight frizz as well and it has a really nice scent, it doesn’t have, it is not like a thick jelly feeling
Amy Salinger: Cause I already have got one, I’m just going to go for it
Laura Nadeau: Okay, alright let me just
Amy Salinger: Is that so much?
Laura Nadeau: First of all, that’s great.
My shampoo is another one of my favorite products for people especially with fine hair or straight hair, people who won’t take it’s because you know you’re oily, but it’s also a great styling tool, cause it adds volume, but it’s also a really great styling trick because if you want to add a little volume, you just spray it to the roots, not all over my pony
Amy Salinger: Then you have to shower every single day
Laura Nadeau: Yes, so you, what we just going to do in a pony tail, you can lift up a section and another thing is you want to be 6 to 8 inches away, but if you’re too close it doesn’t work. And you still a little spray and if we have a minute or two we could wait, and just wait and then you can brush that through and it’s going to give you more volume at the root of your hair.
Amy Salinger: Little blush, little brown lips and a moisturizer for everything that you need to know; you can actually go to Laura’s blog and find the specifics. Now it’s time for your fabulous wardrobe.
So now it’s time of course to get Olga into her 5-minute and fabulous ensemble, and what better way to do it than in a little tiny chic white linen dress, that’s right, this dress is Grand Mill, where did you buy it?
Olga: Old Navy
Amy Salinger: And how much was it?
Olga: $29.50
Amy Salinger: Got to love Old Navy and you know it’s a great simple basic dress; you can wear it any day, going anywhere depending on the styling. The great thing about Old Navy is they cater to all different shapes and sizes, all in reasonable price point, and if you can’t find something at the store, just go online. I love this so well on Olga, between the ruffle going very little cut, hmmm, and this inch to which, it’s really a perfect curvy silhouette on her. And we‘ve done the proper color, not necessarily in the clothing, but around her hair, having a bad hair day, little bit too curly, little bit frizzy, not with the product Laura showed her obviously, but this is a great way to cover it up and to make it kind of sassy part of your look. Love the bow on the sides, then down we’ve got the $50 Burberry wedges, you’re not the crazy bit Ball Joy girl like I am. So we went with her delicate jewelry, she wears this necklace all the time, draw in a little tiny ring, vibrant, fabulous, out the door.
