Screwing Through Carpet

Have you ever had the experience of putting a screw down through carpet and this is what takes place. The screw thread will pick up the actual top of the tread the carpet, pulling it and damaging the carpet for good.

Well here is a tip for you. It maybe a bracket to put on the floor top of the carpet in order to hold down and you are using wood screws into the plywood sub-floor. Now the wood screw is quite forcing the tread and this what you do, pick a piece of scotch tape and wrap it around the tread.

That way when it goes down through the carpet, it is not going to pick up the treads, allowing it to go through without any damage. Put the screw in exactly the same way and down it goes nice and tight, holds that bracket nice and firm, and you know, it is just that easy.
