External hard drives are a great way to make sure that all your important documents are backed up. We’re going to have a look at one from Seagate today.
Seagate has ben around for a number of years making hard drives. This is one of their FreeAgent Go models and you can see at varied style, it actually comes in a number of different colors that you can choose from.
What I like about this one is that it is really easy to take with you on the go. I actually always keep an external hard drive with me and my laptop case so that I can store additional documents, some things like video as well.
This is super thin and believe it or not, this actually has 320GB of hard drives storage space. Right now, I’ve got the optional docking station here so I can basically plug it in and this all USB-based, USB 2.0 and it will pretty well fit into any USB 2.0 laptop or desktop PC which is all of them out in the market now.
Once this plugged in, you can just basically drag and drop any of the files you want right onto the drive itself. It even comes with some software to make backing up easy. It’s called their Seagate manager. What I like is that they actually include it right on the hard drive itself. You don’t have to loaf any additional stuff of a CD.
And you can see here, if I got the backup option, I can do a simple backup and this will allow me to do backup of my documents folder or you can go into the custom backup option and select my entire hard drive if I want or any file or folder for that matter.
I can also sync files if I have a laptop and a desktop then I’m always constantly moving files in between. This is kind of a handy feature. You can basically use the sync option here, the simple one and it will automatically sync the My Documents folder between the two computers. Very handy and that way you don’t have to sit there and drag and drop everything.
Very light weight as well. If you have a chance to pick this up here, it almost feels like there is almost nothing inside so again it doesn’t take up that much weight if you are carding it around in a laptop bag.
From Seagate, it’s called the FreeAgent Go. If you need to backup documents or sync them, a great handy way to do it.
