I look for a while and I could not find any tutorials that explain how to set up a privately hosted mail account with your ipod, touch or iphone.
So just give me opportunity to make one. So this is it and I am going to teach you. So for this, you are going to need an ipod, touch or iphone. It does not need to be jail broken as long as it has a mail application on it. So if you bought it from Apple or at jail breaking, as long as you have it.
Now you are going to need to open up your mail account with your privately hosted email on it. For me this is Outlook Express that is for my email—that is how I use my email set up, they are here. And you are going to go to tools and down to accounts now. And, I will drag this down here right there. Make sure it is in the mail tab right here, but if it is in something else, you are not going to get be able to get to the same spot.
So, find your mail account in your list here, if you only have one and that is the only one if you have more and find it and click it and make sure it is highlighted like that and then click on the properties, click the servers tab up here. And you are at the top, it should say “My incoming mail server is…” something server, whatever this something is, for me it is POP3. And that is what is going to tell you over on ipod.
Okay to find your host name, now that we are back on the computer over here go under the servers tab and take what is in the incoming mail spot which would be right here—Incoming mail POP3, it says POP3 for me. So whatever in this blank here going to take that and put that in your host name on your ipod touch or iphone.
Next we have the user name and password. To find these, look under the servers tab again and in the middle there should be a spot that says “Account and Password” which will be under the Incoming Mails spot, so it would be this and this take this two, whatever in the host, and transfer it over to your ipod.
Now last is the host name. To find this, look under the servers tab again and it is right under the incoming mail spot. So, it would say outgoing mail. And take whatever is in there and fill it on the ipod.
