But for the rest of this video, I’m just going to show you some of the pockets and pouch that I have. Now all the things these pouches fit on this hip kit, this one on the side a minute. I got a military trauma or military pouch here. This will currently contain my hobo stove, my fire lighting kit and my food in this one side pocket now. So that’s one modification that I’ve done, the other side I got a crusader cup with a liter of water. Both of those will come off, if I am do a longer trip away for example I just the four days in the wilderness in discovery.
I had this two packs, one rather say a larger and I don’t want that from. I have to admit and some of the military – YouTube may go to there gain more of insights as to what they’re officially uses are. They did come do it together as a pair on a harness and I’ve removed the harness, separate the packs. So I got a long a big hike put these two on the side. I have my own pouch and again this is on the side, and all I’ve done to fit on the side is I kept the original patent 58 metal clips and on the rack sack I have hip kits put in. Stiff woven and set it on the side so clip on the bottom.
I bolted in on the belt chrome strap that goes to the weapon as well and that is pretty secure. I have never one come off yet mand that’s fully loaded with all the food or with water. So that one on my pouch, and all the 2:19 it’s like a smaller one, I got the old patent 58 water bottle. And something else I’ve got, I have a harness woven harness with this pack. What I notably in my hip kit should spun to is I got couplings on it, so now my hip kit becomes a pack that I can as a harness.
So now I can wear it as a full body harness spread the weight over my shoulders. The only I would use this is if I was doing a low walk in and big heights. Sort 2, 3, 4 hour hikes then I would use the harness I got on now. Because it is easy to carry than a single Shaun’s back, even now I got the hip on it which takes a lot of weigh on it is still spread the weight.
The downside with this harness is I now can not longer access my kit which is a real big down. When you are out walking, you got to stop to take one arm make it harness or it may thought that to get to your kit. I find it really frustrating but it is an option I have available for myself if I wish to use it.
Next thing is I have the full size thermorest, this is itself is where it can go, take in the winter months just to keep the damp and the frost from the back when lying down on the ground. I can use a hammock so I obviously come around and don’t as a rule don’t use in the summer not normally that bad. In the winter I do just take off of the frost and so it’s a big it to carry.
Depending on taking out obviously are on book are in my rucksack underneath from rack sack. If I still got it lightweight them sits underneath my hip kit, there’s no a lot of weight in that. I can do the weight but it is very light you see, you don’t notice on the hip kit. So that’s why I will take for the winter use and if it does get cold, I have my snap pack softee 6 casual sleeping bag. This is a really good sleeping bag and it’s warm you can either—This one does comfort ability is zero, extreme is minus five, I have found I need a pack warmer than that. I sleeping bag warmer than that and what I do when a bush crafting. Is very gets much below that in this country anyway and if it that cold, I normally got fire going and I can always put an extra layers inside the sleeping bag. And I’ve always going okay with this, If it is cold I take a hat and because that mostly heat lost comes from your head when you are in the sleeping bag. Never suffer a cold feet in it but you head so upper freeze hat or an insulating hat or some sort of protective head gear to keep your head warm.
So that is that and the last thing as you’ve all seen in several videos before my bed roll. Bedrolls is the same as all in the other videos, it’s my chart, my beady bag, my warm sleeping bag, liner and my wool blanket. And I also got the bungee cords, the para cords and in here I actually just come back from that four day wilderness trip. I got mosquito net, and I also a string hammock kit here as well so they’re in the actual video, but they’re also saw in this one pack.
Well thanks very much and I’ll see you on the next video where I will explain a bit more detail on my hip kit. How I made it, what is it made up off and then I’ll do another video explaining what I’m carrying in my hip kit now as an update, thank you.
