Speaker: Okay, now there is a couple of things we teach, we run an A. We always want to commend 45 degree angle. No matter where this -- if Maggie moves that way, Becca moves with her, Maggie moves this way Becca moves with her. Always at 45 degree angle. And then we also want to jump behind our setter, a good arms length behind our setter. The ball is going to be set right on Maggie; I am so going to jump and broad up in the air to hit it down. But I do want to jump even with Maggie, always behind her about an arms length away, here, so when the ball comes I am coming in and I am hitting the ball there. And where I need to be? When the ball gets to Maggie's hand I want to be here and on my toes ready to leave the ground if the ball leaves Maggie's hand, that is the correct timing of this play.
Becca you are going too child, too close to Maggie. Okay. Look in the difference already.
Good Becca!
Quite little higher for Emily. Good! Now one thing to keep in mind, Becca and Emily stand side-by-side, please.
These are two different middles, fast and big vertical, a little slower and not as high vertical, okay. They are both very good middles in every aspect though because everyone is different. The worst you can do, no matter what level you are coaching at is to tell your setter for middles; we want you to set a ball's height above the net because that's only here.
What if Emily jumps five ball heights above the net, okay, and what if Becca jumps two ball heights above the net. We never want to say it's a balls height, no. We want to say we set the ball to the attacker's hands on the middle; so if Emily gets up fast on her hands up here we set to her hands. Becca's hands only at here we set to her hand. We never set to a height; we set to their hands in the middle, it's going to be quick but it needs to get to her hand.
