Hey guys, this is Eric from www.finalcutstudioschool.com and in this movie, actually my next few movies on shake will be over the tracker nodes. There are so many different ways to do it and so many different types of trackers. One point tracking, four point tracking, there is match moving, there is smooth cams, there is steady cams, there is all kinds of stuff, and I am planning to covering them all but in this video, I am going to start with something simple, I am wishing to show you how to do one point tracking in shake.
So, as you can see I have a little sequence loaded in here. It is a hundred frames long; it is just them walking to the snow. So, I am going to select my footage over here, the first thing I am going to do is go to my transform tab. Under my transform tab, on the very last row of your nodes, you will see the tracker node, click the tracker node. This will throw up a tracker in your canvass. Now, let me zoom in by hitting command and the middle mouse button and drag it.
Now, here is my tracker box, this middle box is the track box and it is the search area, the area that will be tracked and this here is the search box which is how far the tracker is going to look ahead. So, and you can make it big or small but the bigger the search box the more processor it is going to take to do this and more intense it is going to be in the longer it is going to take. So, I am going to stick my little cross here, right here in a good spot and I am going to go right here just track forward and track backward. You can even try it backward with shake. And, I am going to hit the track forward button and it will go as you can see it just highlights the search area and we have our track.
We hit the “F” key to frame it and now when you see when I scrub through, if you look down the timeline I can scrub all of these key frames and also when I scrub through it sticks right there, like that. So okay now, I am going to go to my tracker and select it and we hit “E” on the keyboard to extract it. Now, we have this tracker extracted. So now, I am going to click back on the person because in this movie, we are going to blur his head a little bit, just as an example, so got my tracker set up and I am going to select my movie again, go back to image rudder shape.
Now, with my rudder shaped tool selected, I am going to come over here and draw corner elaborate box around him just for demonstration purposes, usually you just be obscuring the head for like a cops effect. So, now we double click my rudder shape you see we have this shape. I am going to apply a blur to it under the filters tab and I want to up my blur to about thinner 20.
Okay, now that I got my blur set, I am going to go back to my transform tab and I am going to apply a match move to this rudder shape. And, when you apply match movie you will see you have this little track come up so what I am going to do is come over to my parameters and scroll down. I am going to find my track one, I am going to right click and I want to go up and select load track. This little box will come up and what you want to do is select your tracker. This one is tracker one, track one. You say okay, and as you can see it attaches it there. And, when I scrub through you can see it is attached to the point. When, I scrub through you will see what I am talking about. So now, what I am going to do is go over here to my parameter tab to make sure I enable, I want to make it active. I want to change my output type to foreground. Now, you can see it. And, when I scrub through, you can see that the shape is attached to the track point. So now, what we want to do is I am going to click my footage and load it back in the viewing, go back to frame one. I am going to go to my layers tab and I am going to add a key mix, this will mix things together. Now, I got a key mix, I am going to select my footage again, I am going to shift click on the blur node, this will add another blur node out, like that.
I am going to bring my blur node down here to second input, and I also want to up the blur, like that. And then, I am going to bring my match move down to my third input, and now, as you can see if you look real close, he is blurred out, and when I scrub through, he is tracked right in. This is just one of a 100,000 ways to do this, guys.
So, take a good look of this node tree, have a say how, how it is going. Look at how I done things and it is really simple once you get your head wrapped around it you will see why shake does things this way because it gives you the ultimate control and the tracker and shake makes after effects look pretty bad I mean for after effects has got a good tracker but nothing compared to shake.
I am sorry it just do not, and that is just my opinion, so I guess I can go in here and add deinterlace filter to clear up the juggins and there we go, there is your one point tracking in shake.
