Should I Propose to My Boyfriend

Michelle: Hi, my name is Michelle and I’m from Florida. I want to ask my boyfriend to marry me but would that emasculate him?

Phil Rutter: So Michelle when I hear that question I mean there’s a part of me that is about to crack up with the word emasculate so I’m a little bit concerned that that’s part of your thinking? So, what I wonder about is if you’ve had a conversation with your boyfriend about your interest in getting married. So, you don’t necessarily have to ask him to marry you. If you have that concern that you’re going to emasculate him, you probably will. So, my thought is to back off, slow down a little bit. I think it’s great that you want to marry him and you want to ask him to be your life partner. I think that’s awesome but I think slowing it down and having a conversation about the fact that you’re ready to get married I think will be much better received. Thanks.
