Should some purchases only be made if both parties agree?

David Marotta: There are some purchases that should be made only if both parties agree and this is the second vow. We generally recommend picking some dollar limit and the dollar limit that we recommend is again a half percent of your annual salary.

So if you make $40,000.00 a year and if for take home pay anything over $200.00, you have to talk to one another. And when my wife and I first got married, it was a very low limit. We were very poor as we’ve got in financially better off that limit has gone up higher and higher.

But it’s easy for one party to swamp the budget, have a budget buster in some purchase and then the entire family falls behind. And it’s not fair to each party unless you agree on those big purchases.
