Yo! What’s up everyone? Walt Ribeiro here. We do this every single day. Don’t forget to subscribe and write any comments. Today, I’m going to be showing you off new Sibelius 6. So what is Sibelius 6, why would I want it, and all of that stuff.
So the idea is that if you write music, which I’m sure you do and you perform it, is that if you have a piece of music that maybe you write on the piano, so let’s say that you have a little something like this [demonstration]. So this is a quick little part but notice what I do here is that it doesn’t always show me the parts that I’m playing but if I were to actually play, see how it’s actually decompressed [demonstration].
So the cool thing is that I’m able to play notes not only by clicking on them and then having it showed by a sheet music but also if I were to just play piano straight through. So here’s how the piece sounds now [demonstration]. And this is like a straight 120 as in 8th notes. But then, I mean obviously, what I had before would be, I’d say maybe about the 70. So here’s how it goes when we have that [demonstration]. But then the accent would be on every third.
Anyway, so I can actually play straight into my sheet music, me playing piano. So that’s a really cool feature and all of you guitar buffs are going to love me now so check this out. They now have added a new feature that I’m able to play on the guitar my exact thing that I want to show up as a sheet music. So let’s throw in the bass line. Let’s say that you have a cool bass line that you wrote on guitar and you have a cool treble line that you wrote on the piano [demonstration] and maybe you have trouble reading music. Maybe you’re trying to teach yourself or whatever or maybe you’re just faster with one than the other. So, I’m going to ask you right in my bass line on the guitar by clicking. So here, watch this. I can actually just go click on this one. By the way, it’s slower now because I’m recording video. But when I’m not recording video, it’s really fast. And then here, I’m doing it on the piano and switch back and forth and I can even build chords on top of that. So now you can see how it’s starting to build. See that? So that’s Sibelius and there’s a lot of really, really cool features throughout this.
There’s only one problem. There are two things in Sibelius that I’m not too crazy about. One is that you see the top of this right here how this bar gets blocked up top? Well the bad thing on that is that if that gets blanked up top, I cannot grab it now to bring it back down. So as you see it gets stuck behind there forever but what you have to do is you have to go down here and extend it out and then grab the bar and then bring it back down. That’s the only thing ever since Sibelius 2 or 3 I think about is I’ve always did not like. But outside of that, they’ve added a ton of new features, really cool stuff and the next video that I’m going to be doing tomorrow is show you the idea of like looking inside this and all the accent and all of the sharps and all that cool stuff. And there’s a cool thing here that’s called panoramic view and the idea is that you can just scroll forever in a day. And notice that when I scroll, there’s now the left side, the treble and the bass clef don’t move. It’s awesome, it’s the coolest thing ever.
So that’s Sibelius and you could do a lot of cool stuff on this. You can export as audio, MIDI, Sibelius files, you can input movies which I just did so let’s say I’ll be doing that in a couple of days. But that’s the idea. So if you have a cool thing on a guitar with a piano and you want to check it out, definitely check out Sibelius and that might be what you want. There are a lot of cool shortcuts and I’ve been using it for years, so I thought you guys might want to check it out.
All right, don’t forget to subscribe, write your comments or any questions you got. If it’s about Sibelius, even if it’s questions about Finale or a notion or whatever; you know, maybe like how this is different, like comparing it with them all, let me know and I will absolutely answer them all for you. And there I hope that answers a lot of your questions about Sibelius and the cool new stuff that’s going on so. All right guys, we’ll all see you back here tomorrow. Stay well and we’ll see you. Peace.
