Cara: Hi, I am Cara from Michigan. I am wondering what precautions can I take to prevent a reaction to a medication that I am taking for the first time. Rondell Wexler: Cara, when you start a new medication, there is always the concern about a side effect or a problem. There is nothing you can really do ahead of time with taking the medication, there is nothing you can take to make it safe or before you take it. The most important thing is to make sure that you tell all of your allergies to whoever is prescribing for you so that they can make sure there is no allergic sections in what they are prescribing for whatever your treatment needs to be.
