Silent Heart Attack

I want everyone to look at what is one of my favorite animations. This is what happens when you have a heart attack. So if your heart's beating and everything is going A-okay, we're looking at the artery that feeds your heart with that necessary oxygen. A plaque ruptures, almost immediately platelets start to aggregate forming a wall, a clot after which blood will no longer get to your heart, your heart muscle literally dies. It happens over the course of minutes and hours. Once your heart muscle dies, it's dead. You're not going to recover. If it goes to the area of your heart where electrical impulses are sent, electrical impulses are scattered, your heart stops beating and there is, what we call sometimes, sudden heart death, cardiac death.

Silent heart attacks for me as your doctor one of the most scary things I take care of. Particularly prone are older people, diabetics; they will literally have no symptoms sometimes other than I feel weird, I feel fatigued. Something isn't right and that maybe their only complaint and they could be having a silent heart attack. They estimate up to four million people that had silent heart attacks.
