Sirius Stiletto 2 - Tech Review
Many people thought that radio is going to be dead with the event of the music players like MP3 devices and iPods, but in fact radio is stronger than ever especially with satellite radio. Last year or last season we talked about the Stiletto from Sirius. Well, here it is again. Stiletto 2 and is back and it’s better than ever. The idea is that it’s got it satellite radio built into it down in the US Sirius and XM have both merge together so now there’s even more content available than ever before in terms of news and stations and all sort of information, sports and what not. But also it’s got an MP3 player built into it. So it’s a 2-gig player that you can put all to your music on and if you put it in an SD-card you can take that all the way up to 8G. So it’s a great MP3 player.
So now what you have is, you have your music player, you have your satellite radio but as well as it has WiFi connection. So when you get home and you’re on your high speed internet connection this can tap into your network and now pick internet radio. All that packed into a little device. I think it’s pretty cool.
You can listen to this at your desk. You can take it for a run, you can do all that stuff its completely portable but when you do get back to the house you can actually plug it into a docking station and that docking station once again can be plug into your sort of your high-fi stereo system. So now you’re getting that internet radio, your MP3 collection and your satellite radio.
I do have a couple criticisms of the Stiletto 2 from satellite. One would be the fact that they put the memory upgrade underneath the battery so now whenever you want to upgrade your music selection through the memory card you have to remove the battery in order to do that. And of course the other thing is with satellite radio and this is just inherent with it, you have to have access to satellites in order to get the signals. So if you’re leaving in like a concrete building or in a basement suite your typically not going to get it as good of a selection. However that’s where the WiFi and internet radio comes in to play because of your great signal from there. It will also be cool if they built in FM radio but maybe that would be a little bit of going against the satellite but imagine if it was FM satellite, internet and MP3 then maybe you have everything you’d ever want.
You love the sound of satellite radio? Also checkout these MP3 players.
