Male: Hey what’s up, Rob and Corrine here, welcome to thread heads.
Female: Recently we received this video submission from John Paul.
John Paul: Hi thread banger, my name is John Paul; I need some help with my shirts. I bought a lot of shirts when I have to juvenile outfit and I had to get a big neck you can see why. That means they are already baggy and I want to take them in. I have this shirt made for me. It is the only one I ever had made for me, it fits beautifully; do not mind the color, but it feels incredibly comfortable. How do I get another one made without paying the same money and can I make it myself. Should I take this apart or should just I copy on a piece of paper.
Female: Alright John Paul, altering your clothes can be a little tricky especially if you are not an experienced tailor. The easiest method we found is the pinch and pin. Take your baggy shirt turn it inside out and put it on get out all your pins and pinch and pin. Pinch and pin pinch and pin. Now repeat on the other side; pinch and pin pinch and pin pinch and pin. Once you are all pinned up, you are going to saw a seam starting above the armpit going down all the way side.
After you are done sawing both sides, try on the shirt to make sure it is the right fit. If you are happy, you can cut off the excess fabric and poof, no more baggy shirts and if you are serious about making the shirts from scratch we recommend this book by David Page Coven. Shirt making, developing skills for fine sawing but first you need to get your measurements.
Male: To get the best fit you should probably get a personalize body form made, now I know what you are thinking.
Female: But leave it to Andy Lewis over the edgy crop labs to keep it simple.
Andy Lewis: Hi my name is Andy Lewis and this is me, this is a dress form I made an exact clone of my very own torso, it is really easy and really cheap for you to do it at home.
You are going to need 3 things: a large expandable t shirt, bunch of duct tape and a body. It is really simple; you put the large t shirt on and you have your friend; just start to wrap your torso in duct tape; snag but not so tight you can not breathe, put on 3 layers, when you get up to the boob area you want to sort of put the tape like this and form it really well but if you want it to be a really accurate representation of your torso so later it will be easier to fit the clothes that you are making and then you take some sharp scissors and slit up the back; have your friend cut of the back, tape the back up and then you basically need that stuff at that point, we have not reached that point yet and after that it is all ready to go, it is so much easier to fit clothes and fit patterns if you have your own body there and just save you so much from measuring.
Female: I got another good use for duct type.

Male2: Meet a man who has harness technology to help shoppers looking for clothes that fit their bodies perfectly.
Male3: My name is Ceron, I am the co founder and chairman of Body Metrics. At Body Metrics, what we do is we scan your body and make a perfect fitting jean and also we allow you to see yourself virtually and try on garments in virtual reality. Body scanning process takes much 5 percent on seconds and then we automatically take about 200 measurements from that process On using those measurements, we actually make tailor made garments so if you like perfect fitting garments based on those measurements, because one of the biggest parries about online shopping for clothes, is the 25 to 40 percent of all garments have returned because of size.
Female: Wow that is pretty high tech.
Male: Definitely; now to check out somebody who learned how to measure the old fashion way.
Rebecca Hi am Rebecca Turver and we are here in my studio in Brooklyn, New York. I started making clothing when I was probably in high school so I think I was just inspired by not being able to find anything I wanted and I was really, really picky about how I wanted to look and how I want to fix to fit and so I started altering clothing myself and then that, as I got older, I create, actually making things and then that is what I studied in college. My senior collection was called the safe place and it was each piece like you must suppose to focus on the different area of the body and protecting that area of the body and so that is where the clothing lines came from and so, of course now, like the pieces are much more wearable so, not every pieces like that but it is sort of a concept in. I want to go back into that work, head some points someday. Once in a while, someone will come up and ask if I am wearing Rebecca Turvo and then I am like, I do not know. You can purchase things on my website, rebeccaturvo.com. Every minute I am thinking about something that I want to be making.
