Sizzling Grilled Beef Strip Steak Recipe
Hi I am Betty, welcome to Betty’s kitchen. Tonight we are making some grilled steak and its grilled strip steak.
We are going to be doing this on the gas grill. My husband’s going to take this on the gas grill after I finished preparing it for grilling. You will see that this—perhaps you can see they are very large. This is two pounds worth, so each steak is approximately one pound and that is a lot of meat. I would expect that I will probably eat maybe a third of the smaller one and that would be plenty for me.
I do suggest that when you are grilling steak that you get a good steak. I would rather have less of a steak that are less pound wise on the steak than to have one that is tough and not really good for grilling, so a good grilling steak might be rib eye, t-bone or strip steak like this and others. I’m going start by using some meat tenderizer and a lot people don’t actually salt their steaks until after they’re grilled but I like to go ahead and get the seasoning out of the way and that is one reason I use tenderizer. It keeps it nice and juicy and moist and of all the steak preparations I have tried, what I am going to show you is the best combination to put together to have the best tasting steak possible in my opinion.
So I am going start by just scattering a little bit of this meat tenderizer on the top and then I will be turning it over to get the bottom and before I do that, I am going to get the top with some freshly ground black pepper. So if you need to prepare the meal and pick this up really inexpensively at your grocery store in the spice section so I just found my way to these pepper corns that are in here and when they’re aroma that comes up is just unbelievable. It’s great and then before I turn them over I am going to give them a nice generous portion of extra virgin olive oil. So I am just pouring straight out of the bottle, none of this is measured and it is just to your taste and you can pretty much tell when things get covered, so it’s just a matter of getting that can of spread around so it is even. Maybe getting around the sides a little bit before you turn it over and then turn it over and it can get some of that oil that is there already. And then I did bring a damp cloth so I could get that off my hands before I start on this other side.
So we are going to adjust these are the same thing again, we are going to sprinkle here and here and then we are going to grind. These are pretty thick and I like mine pretty well done. My husband likes his medium or medium well, so he will probably keep them a little different one as compared to the others. Let that get it all spiced up and we will put our olive oil over the top again here. And then my husband is going to work the magic this time because he is going to take this out at the gas grill and when he comes back we’re going to have some wonderful grilled strip steaks to go with our crisp baked potatoes that we did earlier in the day today, so see you back in a minute.
So my husband has just come in with a hot grilled steaks, these are strip steaks that he has done on the gas grill and I can tell the looking that this one is less than that one. So this is his and let me cut into it to show you the middle of it. If you like a steak that looks like that then it doesn’t have to be cooked too long on the guest grill and I am going to cut my portion about a third like I have said and we will come up here and we all see there’s—there is not much pink, there is some pink that is fine for me. Some people wanted with no pink at all and just needs to be cooked a little longer if that is the case.
So I am going to place that on my serving plate and then I think I mentioned to you that we made crispy baked potatoes earlier in the day and here they are, still a little hot I got them out of the oven a few minutes ago so they have been seating for a while we did the steak. So let me just pick up some of this and put it over here on my serving plate and we are ready to go. I normally would serve this with nice green salad with some nice dressing and perhaps French bread with olive oil for dipping and then it is nice to have something like this for dessert. This is are just strawberries that have been dipped into chocolate and they have been refrigerated so they would set up like that. And then of course always my favorite drink is iced tea so hope you enjoyed this meal in particular the steak.
