Speaker: Well our local Tourism Board came up with the concept of brand our highways in the region just simply because there is so many powder destinations. So the highway between Ferni, Red mountain and Kicking Horse with Pandarama and Kimberley in between so they are branded the powder highway, making it a perfect road trip powder destination. The area was the birth place of Heliskiing; were renowned for dry champagne powder in the region.
The Golden is at the Northern end of the Powder Highway. So it is a perfect beginning or end to a road trip that encompasses a variety of resorts.
Dave Treadway: At Kicking Horse here there is only really two main lifts to access the Alpine and from that though there is so much terrain that can be skied. You don't really need a ton of lifts because from the top you can just traverse out and you got so much place to be skied.
Ryan Johannesen: It always got the dry snow usually lots of it and no lift lines, lots of room to play, lots of stuff to push yourself or just take it easy depending on what you want to do for the day and you get views like this up here.
Speaker 2: There is so much to access here and you can always find good pocket and you can have a lot of fun in a short time.
Ryan Johannesen: Yeah, the top of the ski hill here was the Eagle's Eye Restaurant.
Dave Treadway: Which, is the highest elevation restaurant in Canada, serving rocky mountain cuisine with a French flair.
Ryan Johannesen: Barely inexpensive for what it is, especially the beer is pretty reasonably priced and then you got awesome views and you can take a couple of runs afterwards.
Dave Treadway: Town of Golden isn't your normal tea town; has a lot more of a red-neck feel with semis coming through and I think a lot of people come here because of that. It has a tough feel to that, you can have your ski in the back of the truck and walk into public with your flat jacket on and people love you for it. What keeps me in Golden here is not only just the people, it is a lot lower key vibe.
Ryan Johannesen: There is less crowd too, little bit less of the scene, nice spot, nice and mellow.
Speaker 3: Can you party in Golden?
Ryan Johannesen: You can party in Golden. You can party in Golden, everyone is getting bigger people are partying, people are staying out late.
