Hi my name is Pirooz Sharshar co-founder of the Grooming Lounge. Today we’re going
to cover the basics of men’s skin care and now I’m going to cover the four skin types.
Now you may be asking yourself why should I pay attention to my skin or why is taking
care of my skin important or is there a difference between men’s and women’s skin
because most of us just use soap that are girl friend, wife or significant other has in the
shower. But I’m here to tell you there’s a big difference in men’s skin and women’s skin.
For one thing most of us guys do not take care of our skin. Second thing, we don’t even
know how to wash our face. I bet a lot of you out there have no idea how to wash your
face. But before we even get to that we need to break it down into four categories. First is
oily and acne prone skin and this sort of skin is usually shiny. It has— you know you’re
prone to breakouts, acne. There is visible pores and black heads and I’m sure we’ve all
seen this.
The next is dry and sensitive skin. A dry sensitive skin comes when you’re usually in a
dry climate, if you’re in the mountains, if the area has a lot of mountains. If you’re in the
dessert and it’s often sensitive. It’s tight, it’s very uncomfortable. There’s fine pores and
has a tendency towards a lot of dryness and it’s really irritated usually when you shave.
Next is mature aging skin, a mature aging skin usually has fine lines, wrinkles around the
eyes, mouth and forehead and it’s very dry and there’s usually bags under the eyes. The
fourth and final one is a very a common one and its called combination skin. In this sort
of skin, usually you can identify by the T-zone and the T-zone is this right here your
forehead and your nose and these two areas are usually very oily and the pores are sort of
big but the rest of the skin is very dry. But with all these skin types what we want to
achieve is balance and the way we achieve balance is really easy, it takes some simple
tools, cleansers, moisturizers, exfoliants which we’re going to get in to.
Now the next segment, I’m going to teach you how to wash your face.
