G string. This note yes, eighth fret, sixth fret on the G sharp string, eighth fret on the G sharp string, sixth fret on the B string and eighth fret on the B string, so, it’s really simple. We’ve got this simple little pattern here. I’ll play with slide.
[Demonstration]
So, there’s a much she call in and she can with that pattern, eighth, sixth, eighth, sixth, eighth, and one thing I want to understand is what note is that in the major scale. We’re starting off in the root, second, third, fourth and fifth. So, that’s the inner most reason, first, the second, third, fourth, fifth.
I'm just hitting eighth, sixth, eighth, eighth, sixth. It’s such a really simple little pattern although used by tons of RNB singers, and they’re attract, so where is that pattern now All the time, that’s a really cool pattern to use and I highly recommend you memorizing that and you use it in a time in your sluggard per plan. Just practice going up and down it. Okay, so, that is the pattern number one.
Moving on to pattern two. So, it’s really a cool lick you can such a really cool lick, you can use it on tons of kind of songs and it adds some really cool parts to it. So, you just want to make sure and get that finger motion down. It’s all about the muting in that lick, see don’t mute then hop up. So, you’re going to get the hop technique down.
Immediately your first finger, your thumb hits it. So, for more on the hop technique, you want to check out my first DVD method one opening tuning that I explained the hop technique if you don’t understand that. So, go ahead and memorize lick and that was the lick number four.
It’s not about how fast you’re playing, it’s not about how flashy and technical it is because all of that is really non-existing. You only have to have that kind of flash and slide guitar to sound amazing, and you’ll notice some of my Derek Trucks. So, it’s- just really easy, but hardly anybody can make them sound like that because they get so much emotion into them.
So, you’ve got to work on playing a few melodies and a few notes and putting just tons of emotions into it and that just benefit you so much more and more people will want to listen to you. Do that type of lick rather than playing a hundred thousand licks, so you don’t play any space into it and it just sounds like crap to me, so you can be right.
