Tax Tips for Filing Season
Choosing a Tax Preparer
Hi, I’m Melaney Partner from the IRS. Have you decided to hire a tax professional so you can focus on other aspects of your business, there are some questions you should ask to help you find a reputable prepares.
First you ask about experience. Has the prepare work with businesses similar to yours in size and type. Is the prepare familiar with your particular line of business?
Second, ask about services. Does the prepare offer electronic filing? The safest and most efficient way to file your returning payer taxes yet, you might ask for references. Consider checking with the Better Business Bureau, your state Board of Accountancy for CPA and State Bar Association for attorney or the IRS Office of Professional Responsibility for enrolled agent. And don’t forget about friends and family in IRS.gov.
Finally, you know that ask about price but what services are included in the prepares fees. If the IRS examines share return, what is the prepares policy in assisting you? While they are not to use the tax professionals but personal decision but remember, you are legally responsible for what comes to tax return even if it’s prepared by someone else.
