Cynthia McClain-Hill: Hi I’m Cynthia McClain-Hill, this year’s NAWBO president. As a part of our on going efforts to empower women in political, economic and social arenas, I am pleased to bring to you a message from Business woman Ann Fudge from the Barak Obama Campaign.
Ann Fudge: Greetings NAWBO members. I’m Ann Fudge and it is indeed my honor to spend a few minutes with you, telling you first of all how impressed I am by what you as entrepreneurs have done. I set my life in corporate America so really didn’t have some of the challenges that I know you’ve faced.
But in preparation for this conference, I did do a little bit of market research and what I’ve learned with this, that your primary challenge is acces to capital. And that’s one of the reasons why I’m supporting Barak Obama for president.
He has several programs which are focused on making acces to capital more easy and simple for you to grow and build your businesses. And as I think about the important of small business in America in fact, one fact really surprised me, that 60% of people who are hired are hired by small business and these are small businesses of under 500. And a lot of you are running those kinds of businesses.
And so when I think about my time in corporate America and what you’re actually doing in growing businesses that are really making a difference in your local communities. I can do nothing more than say, I salute you, I congratulate you and as a woman, I very much wants you to continue to work hard and succeed because you are really the backbone of our economy. Congratulations!
