Alex Fees: I’m Alex Fees on Small Business Television and we’re coming to you from
SEMA 2008 the specialty equipment market association in Las Vegas. And joining me here now
is Mike Mangan. Mike good to meet you sir.
Mike Mangan: Hi Alex and good to see in here.
Alex Fees: I appreciate to be in here it’s like Mike and I could be co-hosting on toll time
show here something on SBTV. And you got the memo on the black shirt. Mike you’re with
serious crash in the Chicago correct?
Mike Mangan: That’s correct.
Alex Fees: Have you been the SEMA before?
Mike Mangan: I have yes and this is my third years at SEMA.
Alex Fees: Really, what is your impression we are wrapping up here on day five.
Mike Mangan: Will I know that we’re expecting a hundred thousand people and I’m sure they
that, meet that number when you are in the vehicles in every hole in the boulevard here so—
Alex Fees: It’s like in the SEMA fish so we’re little concern with the economy, they say there
number worst out of it but they were over 100,000 as far as tend there distance on.
Mike Mangan: I know last year they’re up to 130,000.
Alex Fees: Right.
Mike Mangan: So they are down a little bit but you know given the state of the economy and I
think not bad.
Alex Fees: That absolutely. Tell me about Sears Craftsman involvement here at SEMA.
Mike Mangan: Craftsman is here this year with the number of new products and probably the
most significant for small business owners is the new professional storage line. This is the same
type of tool storage that you will find on the tool of truck companies from the snap on, metro and
MAC. These are boxes that have canopies and long carts start from 37 to 56 to 74 to 94 inches in
length.
Alex Fees: Wow, really not even the viewing to that, talking about that here at SEMA?
Mike Mangan: You know they hand and they’ve got a program at the both where they’re trying
to figure out what the next colors going to be. They’ve got five stocks colors and they’re trying
to find out what the six colors going to be so they’re asking people to stop by and to use from a
line selection and what’s coming in stronger are the blue.
Alex Fees: So the clients choose the color then.
Mike Mangan: Exactly.
Alex Fees: Or the potential clients I guess, that’s a good idea it generates some interest.
Mike Mangan: They’re going to have six stunt colors and them about adjacent costume colors in
the program.
Alex Fees: Mike you can going on, the Sears Craftsman has been nominate and talk about.
Mike Mangan: Craftsman has a number of new tools this year one of the things that’s up is a
called Build the Set where you’ve got 14 different modules and these surprise affordably from 59
to 199 dollars and everything they have the dimensional drive sizes but there is also not driver,
screw drivers full polish ranges combination tools and even a break set module. It’s nice to be at
this as you can take into the job of the project and then when you’re done with it bring it back
and just slept it right into your door to keep nice and organize.
Alex Fees: Okay, you got more I’m looking at the T territory drivrers.
Mike Mangan: Torch drivers.
Alex Fees: Torch drivers, sorry I can’t read your writing.
Mike Mangan: You know beyond screw drivers slotted in Philips and you look for the torch. A
lot of automobile fasteners are in the torch mode. The T torch means that they a lot of new torch
fasteners have spirals to them. Meaning you can only get those if you get a hollow out torch
which can grab it and can get and then take it off. That’s happening in the automotive industry as
well as in the construction field. So they got a whole new line of torch drivers.
Alex Fees: Okay, T handles knot drivers.
Mike Mangan: T handles knot drivers which is nice is they got that T handle and its nice. I mean
it’s almost the wet of your palm and you can grab it and you know get that fastener either to
tighten it or loss it and they really had especially if you’re doing repair of work.
Alex Fees: Now these are new series products or?
Mike Mangan: It’s a brand new products that are just filling out into the stores now and you can
find them on series.com.
Alex Fees: Alright Mike, last but not least here. Cross force reversible ranching in ranches.
Mike Mangan: Cross force reversible ranching in ranches is the new version of the combination
ranch but to think of the beam that’s slightly shifted geometrically. So you’ve got a 12 point box
stand the reverses left and right and what’s nice about when you ranching for a consecutive of
amount of time it are not going to strain or put them an impression on your hand. And they’re
really nice longer beams tools for added torch.
Alex Fees: Like for a large company or corporation like Sears what does a small business are
mean about.
Mike Mangan: You know the small business with the industrial division its sears and for small
businesses that might be buying in quantity they are now tighten into a distributor network of
200 distributors nationwide that people can cause airs and punch in there zip code and find now
what the nearest distributors is and then that wrap, they can work through that wrap or through
the distributor himself directly.
Alex Fees: Really it does accommodate some of there needs as a small business owner.
Mike Mangan: Exactly and for those that are buying in quantity that’s really the way to go rather
than— you know they can go out for the store for ones in twos or a series.com but if they are
looking to buy in quantity they’re going to get a better price to the distributorship.
Alex Fees: Okay Mike I heard a website there, series.com is that right?
Mike Mangan: We have series.com and the other side is craftsman.com and then they can also
contact the series general number and headquarters which is 847-285-2500.
Alex Fees: Alright good deal, he is Mike Manga get to the Series Craftsman. Mike I
appreciate to be in here.
Mike Mangan: Thanks for being here.
Alex Fees: I’m Alex Fees and we’re coming to you from Las Vegas at SEMA 2008.
