Alex: We’re coming to you from the Consumer Electronic Show 2009 here on Las Vegas talking to Panasonic officials here Bill Taylor is the Vice President. Bill, I’ll make sure you got you tight right here, Communications Solutions Group, right?
Bill: That’s correct.
Alex: Excellent title, sir.
Bill: Nice to meet you, Alex. Thanks for coming to see us today.
Alex: And we’re here to talk about Panasonic’s significance in the small business world. I’m going to lay a figure on here on by on the top. Bill, I understand Panasonic is the number one provider of services for small and midsize businesses in America. Is that correct?
Bill: Yeah, actually it’s the system solution so we’re really focusing on small, medium enterprise with reliable, affordable, flexible communication systems for them. What that means is that we allow your system that you buy from Panasonic can be expanded up to a thousand extensions if you want and you can re-use the handsets so you don’t have to change out the handsets each time.
Alex: We’re going to show an example right here in just a second. But first why is that such a priority? Why a small business America if you will, a priority for Panasonic?
Bill: It’s always been a priority for Panasonic. We just sort of grow up into that market place and we also know it’s under surfed market. It’s very difficult to reach that market. We have a channel strategy and value added reseller partners that enable us to do that better we think than anybody else in the communication industry today.
Alex: Take a step back and what’s here and show me what we’re talking about. What is this?
Bill: This is our IP PBX handset. This particular one is called the KXNT 343. The numbers don’t mean that much but what’s important about this phone is that it allows you to connect your phone and your computer all together at once. We have pass-through cable for that and what it also allows you to do is to program the phone. So we can actually shift into here if I can show you this. And I can actually in this particularly case we’re showing a home control application, but we can use this for call center applications.
If you’re a lawyer you can use it to do time building materials. If you’re a small hotel, you can use that to do room control as well.
Alex: So Bill this is going to allow a small business owner than an entrepreneur the function like they’re big time. Like they’re not small business at all, is that right?
Bill: That’s exactly right. We know small business wants to be big business. So again what we’re trying to do is give them the same feature sets that you can get from the larger and more complicated systems without the price tag associated with that.
Alex: Continue, what we’re looking at here?
Bill: Well, so what this is, this is a deck handset that allows you to be mobile with this device. So now, if I’m a car dealer for example and I have a relatively mobile sales organizations but I also want them to be able to answer phone calls when they get their phone calls. This allows that to happen so just like a cordless phone in your house, this is the cordless phone for business.
Alex: These are just two pieces of a much larger system that we have a photograph of. Is that correct? Tell me how this fit in to that system.
Bill: That’s correct, so in the back of all this is a switch that allows you to plug all your phone extensions into. What’s the switch handles is your voice messaging, the number of extensions that you have. It also allows you to do the routing and the connection backup the service provider.
Alex: It’s all about in small business, it’s about providing quality service while giving the appearance of being a much larger operation.
Bill: Of course it is, and again this goes back to the notion of small business wanting to have the same capabilities as larger businesses. Panasonic enables that with this device that we’re talking about today.

Bill: That’s correct.
Alex: Before I let you go here, tell me the whole Harley Davidson story.
Bill: So we recently had a reseller bars affordable communications installed a NCP series PBX system in their dealership location here in Las Vegas. They have such great success with it. They actually advanced it out to all of their other dealer locations throughout Nevada that allow them to re-use the handsets from the Panasonic phone system they have previously. Able communications was able to support them on a state wide basis and when they hosted a special launch event brought another small business operation from around the Las Vegas area and they were showcasing our product on our behalf which I thought was really quite nice.
Now, there is another one thing I would like to point out if we can. What our NCP series system allows us to do is for me to receive desk phone, receive the calls that I would normally get on my desk phone on my mobile phone. So if you call my desk number, my office number it will actually ring my cellphone as well. I can pick this up anywhere I am whether I’m in Las Vegas or I’m in Philadelphia or I’m off in Japan where I’m a lot often in Japan.
If I’m not there I can choose to have the voice message, go back to my business system and record there. And then sends me an outlook with an attached voice message which I can then listen to. And if I need to take action on that I can forward that to anybody even if it’s someone not on my business telephone network. Now that’s a cool feature for small business because now that gives them advance communications capability, you can’t get most of anywhere else.
Alex: And this is all part of the same integrated system that we’re talking about.
Bill: That’s correct.
Alex: Well, thanks again, sir.
