David Cantliffe: You’re welcome
Alex Fees: Appreciate to have you in SBTV.com; his business is Bottom Line Advantage, LLC; David, the floor is yours, what is that?
David Cantliffe: We are recoverers of profits to medium to large business
Alex Fees: Recoverers of profit
David Cantliffe: Profit, yes
Alex Fees: What does that mean?
David Cantliffe: Lost profit mean that these businesses that we work with don’t even know that they’re wasting money in 3 specific areas of overhead; copy, print and fax. My history basically is being in the copier business as a street rep or a sales rep and then a business owner for 24 years and what I got to know about the industry is that there are things done within the industry, they’re not in the client’s best interest. So basically, this is a turn around, so now you have a person that knows what the industry does, how it runs, etcetera, and is helping the client understand those intricacies so that they can benefit; so case in point, one of our clients, we engage typically in the finance level and the CFO had an open mind and said, “gosh, that sounds good”, if there’s something there, we work on a contingent basis so that there’s no savings that we can generate, we get real a zero, and they were open mind enough to let us explore when we went to a process and we found a million $15,000 in their budget that they were wasting, paying the vendors too much
Alex Fees: Wow, over a million dollars you found in their budget paying vendors against to do what?
David Cantliffe: Copy, print and fax services equipment, supplies, etcetera
Alex Fees: This must have been a major corporation you’re talking about
David Cantliffe: This was a major corporation, although we’ve had others that well, you have to define major, this is a 6 billion dollar company, we’ve had others that are in the 500,000,000 or 100,000,000 that have been wasting anywhere between 400 and 900,000.
Alex Fees: So you say you’re helping people to recover profits essentially by cutting down on their cost
David Cantliffe: That’s correct
Alex Fees: Alright, what about Michael Gerber, is this your first experience at the Michael Gerber conference?
David Cantliffe: At the conference, yes, I’ve read the E-Myth and the E-Myth Revisited and everything resonates and I have to admit I’m still the technician. As the president of the company we do have other staff employees, but I’m still doing it, doing it, doing this; so I’m here to figure out how not to do it, do it
Alex Fees: Kind of hard to break out of that mode, is it
David Cantliffe: How to break out of that mode
Alex Fees: So how do you take what you hear at something like this at the Michael Gerber conference like this and try to, you know, he says this is not a motivational seminar, but it is motivational. How do you apply that at home or at work?
David Cantliffe: Boy, I think you fire yourself as a technician
Alex Fees: Really
David Cantliffe: And then you figure out how to get what needs to be done through systems rather than doing it, doing it, doing it
Alex Fees: Fire yourself and then start over.
David Cantliffe: Yeah
