Alex: I’m Alex Fees on SBTV.com, we are coming to you from the floor of the Las Vegas Convention Center for SEMA ’07, that is Specialty Equipment Market Association, and joining me here now is DJ Adams. DJ, good to meet you sir.
DJ: Likewise Alex.
Alex: Appreciate you being here. DJ is the president of Adtex Advertising LLC, located in Alido, Texas.
DJ: That’s right.
Alex: Do I have it alright?
DJ: Yes sir.
Alex: Alright DJ, tell me about Adtex Advertising. What do you do? How did you come to be?
DJ: Adtex is a specialty advertising firm that caters to the automotive aftermarket industry. We produce sales drive in high volume advertising, print advertising for the industry.
Alex: Okay, so you cater to the automotive industry that explained your participation here at SEMA.
DJ: Yes.
Alex: Alright, let’s take a look at this thing right here. This is a pamphlet DJ has available, three economical and effective ways to increase your sales, available online, right?
DJ: Certainly, at www.adtexadvertising.com, A-D-T-E-X, advertising, one word dot com.
Alex: Alright. What’s your specialty DJ, automotive advertising, your elude in this earlier, what in particular?
DJ: It’s a print advertising. We only do three things. We offer three high volume low cost sales driving print tools, one being Megalog, which is a high breed catalog, magazines. The other is inserts, we print up to 300 million inserts annually. And the third being a mailer, called a Six Pack, which extends for 6 pages and a coupon, it’s a patented mailer that we produce that gives you 6 or 12 pages of advertising material and an inline coupon, perforated coupon all that at a letter mailing rate.
Alex: Did you understand it in the automotive industry, but who are you suited for? I mean, what types of clients do you have?
DJ: Mostly retailers. Our history is actually in manufacturing. Started off an interesting story, we are the in house advertising department for one of the worlds largest manufacturers of bathing products, and our main customers are department stores. The manufacturer after about a hundred and 14 years, unfortunately went out of business, and we just kept right along producing advertising for the major department stores. And with the consolidation in the department store industry, we sought another niche to close out for our services. And these three are the principals of our company are car enthusiasts, mostly classics and hotrods car enthusiasts, thus we took a look at the automotive industry and try to apply our trade there.
Alex: Okay, and DJ, you’re the president of Adtex Advertising. How long have you been around?
DJ: We’ve been around as a group for about a dozen years, but as the Adtex entity for the automotive industry, about 4 and a half years, Alex.
Alex: How many times at SEMA?
DJ: This is our second year at SEMA.
Alex: Really?
DJ: Yeah.
Alex: Alright. Very interesting.
DJ: As SEMA members, we’ve been SEMA members, we’re going on 3 years, our second year attending the show.
Alex: Okay. And how was it last year? How is it this year?
DJ: Huge. Huge. A lot to see and the ideal opportunity to meet prospective clients and those who might establish relationships within the industry, is just a gigantic show, lots to see, lots to take in, a lot of quality.
Alex: Yes, it’s bigger, last year compared to this year. Or this year compared to last year, I should say. 130,000 people here, 2,100 booths. You notice any other differences, I mean as far as, how is it effective from your point of view.
DJ: Well, we’ve been noticing some trends, we just notice a trends in the industry that is called a Mirror Urban Lifestyle, we noticed that there’s a lot more booths with hip hop music, urban lifestyle themes there, so, we noticed that trend.
Alex: Does that lend itself well to you? I mean as far as your industry is concerned?
DJ: Yeah, we are, we watch trends because of the advertising we produce we have to be able to be a here of those trends to stay current of what we do.
Alex: So, here, you’re visiting then a, who is it, West Coast Customs have a huge display here. I mean, are you talking to their people, are you talking to some of the other designers?
