Female: Welcome to sbtv.com coverage of Sema 2007, Sema is the Specialty Equipment Market Aassociation which is synonymous with cars and after market. And here with me is famous Ross with eBay Motors which eBay is synonymous with online option.
Ross: Absolutely.
Female: Okay, so talked about how eBay Motors relate to eBay site there is a lot of consumers as small business owners that actually use eBay.
Ross: Yeah, so eBay in general actually has a lot of search capabilities for all types of products and services that is on the web. And one of the bigger components is eBay Motors which actually offers parts and accessories for all types of make models and vehicles, everything from your vintage 1914 model T all the way to most recent challengers that are coming now.
Female: So how is ebay motors serving the small business owners?
Ross: We provide a platform a lot of, a lot of small business is the first problem they have it's not just creating the website it's driving the traffic through the website. And what eBay does is we take our 14 million a month users and we port them to you so that you can have a lot of traffic to your products searchable in a site that can help transact your actual product or service.
Female: It sounds complicated.
Ross: Yeah, it's not that complicated though. So what we do is we provide the engine for our transaction to happen so a lot of different businesses out there don’t have the infrastructure to invest in building a full site that combines all the products. What eBay does is allow you to list the product in your store front on eBay very easily and that product is in searchable by a million of users that come to our site. And then through that they can buy or purchase the product then you shift it to them.
Female: That’s really a cost saving too I would think versus having to buying that on a search engine or trying to have you know just a regular search engine to be able to have that accessibility to eBay and eBay Motors.
Ross: Right, so the predominant way we make money is by the performance of your sales of your products. So it's not really an investment on what you’re hoping to get from the consumers it's more of what type of traffic guys you transact on your site. So it's really the business you bring to you as the seller.
Female: And a part is sold every second.
Ross: That’s right.
Female: On eBay Motors.
Ross: Absolutely, so part is sold every second in the US and globally we sell thousand of marks, million—
Female: How long did it take eBay to jump on board with the motor side of thing?
Ross: You know it's a great question, so like in the middle part of 2000 we started eBay Motors Simon actually started out that competitive eBay Motors and we realized it and require a different new experience. Obviously people want to search by parts a little bit differently by making model a year. So we provide that in rich experience for the consumer to find those parts hopefully that fit the vehicle through our selves.
Female: What kind of small businesses other than parts a little bit picky somebody used eBay Motors for?
Ross: You can use it frankly everything from apparel merchandise specific to vehicles, all the way to the actual parts and accessories that fit on the vehicle. It's everything from wiper blades, intake manifolds, exhaust anything that fits on to the vehicle is actually placed on the car eBay Motors.
Female: And I if we were correctly from my own use of eBay just make it pretty easy to teach us how to post things on their. So I’m sure you make it pretty easy for our small businesses and people do get that.
Ross: So if you get eBay Motors and you can actually go to the tips and advice section and it will tell you what you need to do first to start off to get your parts listed on the sign and you make them search for it.
Female: Were talking about electronic marketing, were talking about getting your business out there globally and nationally. This is a great way to do it, on the eBay—just to pick it back on eBay motors, thank you very much Ross for being here. Keep it right here as we continue our coverage of Sema 2007 here in Las Vegas.
