Ivy Hartman: Welcome to sbtv.com, the exclusive coverage of 2008 NAWBO women business conference in Phoenix, Arizona, I'm Ivy Hartman and with me is Jackie Jeffrey of Phoenix. Jackie got a really unique business. You’ve got gore goremaster.com magazine. It’s an online magazine and clearly if the name doesn’t give it away talk about what goremaster.com magazine is.
Jackie Jeffrey: Yes, it’s a resource for pens of gore of gore films, sci-fi films and fantasy films. And I really kind of highlight the special effects that go behind it. So make-up special effect, visual effects, animation, playmation things like that I highlight all of it.
Ivy Hartman: Talk about while you started—what are your backgrounds why you started goremaster.com?
Jackie Jeffrey: Well my background is actually librarian by trade so I'm interested in pulling resources together and things like that. But as a kid I got interested in horror films and I've always that at the back of my mind and I thought it’s about time I started my own business and this is where I wanted to go.
Ivy Hartman: I'm not an aficionado but for those of our viewers who are let’s talk a little bit about your discerning taste. What are some of your favorites and why?
Jackie Jeffrey: American Werewolf in London because it has the animatronics effects making the werewolf come to life and The Thing is another one. I'm a big fan of 80s horror film because it was really hands on and those guys had to be really creative. And of course now it’s evolved there's the computer generated effects and you have something Pirates of the Caribbean where you have the Octopus man, who most of him is computer generated but it looks so real to make things—
Ivy Hartman: How do you keep on the trends and be such an expert on that?
Jackie Jeffrey: Somehow, I have a mind for it and I just try to do the research, I see the films, I then go back and learn who the effect artist on the film is and those are the people I want to put on Goremaster so that other fans can learn.
Ivy Hartman: Cool. Are there any online publications like goremaster.com that you know about?
Jackie Jeffrey: Mine is a little unique because I am trying to just focus on the artist and really trying to work on independent like people who are getting started. I want to be a venue for them too. They can put their movie trailers on there that sort of thing. But there’s others like Fangoria it’s another magazine—
Ivy Hartman: We don’t have to give away the competitors, I just wonder if you know if you really supply because that’s the par of horror film, sci-fi, fantasy films that I can appreciate is the artistry that goes into it.
All right side tracking a little bit, what brought you to NAWBO this year?
Jackie Jeffrey: Well I just joined NAWBO actually and I knew that I needed to get around other successful women entrepreneurs and learn how to come out from that end because I have my idea for my business that now I need to gather the resources and partner with people and get the help to really make it grow. Because like I said I came from a library, background and I wanted to get into the business end.
Ivy Hartman: Okay NAWBO is a great place to network. As an aficionado and expert on this source of films are you in the minority, I mean as far as being a woman?
Jackie Jeffrey: I think so. Probably more of my audience is going to be male but I'm going to give it a shot.
Ivy Hartman: I think you can be able to be completely successful. Just think how much harder it is you have to work and the printing is like that.
Jackie Jeffrey: To try to think like my audience. But on the other hand I can talk to them all about these films and that sort of thing.
Ivy Hartman: It’s exciting goremaster.com. Go online you can check it out Jackie Jeffrey of goremaster.com. Jackie, thanks for being here with us, enjoy the rest of the conference I hope you make more contacts and good luck with the online magazine.
Jackie Jeffrey: Thank you.
Ivy Hartman: Keep it right here as we continue our not so ghoulish coverage of NAWBO 2008 in Phoenix.
