Ivy Hartman: Welcome to Phoenix Arizona on sbtv.com exclusive coverage of the NAWBO 2008 conference. I'm Ivy Hartman and with me is Lisa Bromma who is the president of the Entrust Group. Lisa this is interesting, you are servicing business owners of all shapes and sizes, talk about the Entrust Group.
Lisa Bromma: Thank you, thanks for interviewing me this morning. The Entrust Group was established 27 years ago. We are third party record keepers for people who want to take control of their financial assets and their retirement plan.
So if an individual wants to utilize their IRA or 401k in investments that they know, they understand and control they can do that. We act as a third party record keeper doing all the books for them on behalf of the IRA or 401k.
Ivy Hartman: I thought it was interesting off camera you talk about we’re here at NAWBO and so you talk about some of those examples of those different kinds of things that you can direct those funds into. What kind of things like women owned businesses you can—
Lisa Bromma: An individual can self direct their IRA; it’s to buy women’s business to buy any business. They could buy a real estate, they could make loans, and they could buy leases. They can help business who needs capital by buying their account receivables so that they can give the Women business owner more capital to continue their business growing.
Ivy Hartman: I had never thought of that.
Lisa Bromma: Isn’t that great?
Ivy Hartman: Is it great.
Lisa Bromma: And we love what we do. Our management team actually has been self directed the IRA investors for years and we actually walk the talk which gets me really excited and I'm thrilled to be here because I love to work with women investors.
Ivy Hartman: Talk about the Wise Women Investor which is a newsletter that you published but also you publish Wise Women Investor book.
Lisa Bromma: That’s right. Years and years ago 30 to be exact I bought my very first piece of real estate as a single mom with two small kids. And that piece of real estate and how I did that was the beginnings of my getting involve in the real estate investing arena.
As the years moved on I bought and sold a lot of real estate from my own portfolio with not a lot of money and I learned a lot and made a lot of mistakes. Two years ago I came out with the book that’s published by McGraw-Hill that helps women how to invest in real estate and other types of products so they can grow their wealth on their own, by themselves and feel confident as women.
And so I wrote this newsletter and this blog called Wise Women Investor www.wisewomeninvestor.com where women can go on and learn how to take control of their financial future.
Ivy Hartman: What is it different about women that need to have a book specifically for women who are investing in the real estate industry, as a woman who’s done that you’ve encountered some things that maybe gender differences in the industry.
Lisa Bromma: Absolutely. Women make great investors where attention to details is great. Our negotiation skills are by far I think much better than men. We know how to listen, we know how to ask this open-ended questions to get others talking. We make great investors. The problem that a lot of women have though is we don’t have the confidence and our belief system to be able to go out there and actually do the deal. We are a little intimidated sometimes working in what I define primarily a man’s field.
Wise Women, the book, helps women overcome those obstacles so that they can control of their financial life. Entrust when they use their retirement plans, the Entrust Group www.theentrustgroup.com for those who want to learn how to control their investments and their IRA helps them take a step farther so they can buy investments to secure their future. And those investments, the profit come back to you tax to further tax free.
Ivy Hartman: Holy cow my head is spinning from the information you gave us in this short amount of time. Thank you for your contact information Lisa, enjoy the rest of the conference in sunny Arizona.
Lisa Bromma: I love it and thank you for your time.
Ivy Hartman: Absolutely. Lisa Bromma with the Entrust Group. Keep it right here as we continue our exclusive coverage at NAWBO 2008.
