Alex Fees: I’m Alex Fees for small business television SBTV.com. We are on location in Baltimore at the 2009 pet industry spring trade show. It is brought to you by HH Backer associates, publishers of Pet Age Magazine.
Alex Fees: Amber McCrocklin you are the president of Paws Aboard, right?
Amber McCrocklin: Yes.
Alex Fees: Why does a dog need─ what a lifejacket or a doggie ladder is that right?
Amber McCrocklin: Yup, doggie but ladder.
Alex Fees: Yeah, popular items?
Amber McCrocklin: Very popular for boaters. I am a boater myself, I have a 100 pound Labrador and I could not get him back on my boat so I decided that I needed steps for my boat. There wasn’t anything out there so that is why I started the business just because of may “lab”.
Now it is really important that you use these when you are bringing a large dog into the water [Voice Overlap]
Alex Fees: Amber show me.
Amber McCrocklin: Because if you try to reach down and grab your dog and bring him back in, you risk injury as well as the dog is risking injury. So the dog simply just walks up the steps into the boat. It is very simple, there is no strain, they feel safe, it is very easy and it just hooks right on the to the ladder of the boat.
Alex Fess: Okay how much Amber?
Amber McCrocklin: They are 199 retail.
Alex Fees: Alright talk to me about a doggie lifejacket.
Amber McCrocklin: Doggie lifejackets are also very important. There is a lot of dogs that drown every year when they fall off of boats. So it is very important to have a lifejacket on your dog whether you believe your dog can swim or not because they can only swim for so long, and if they are out in the water, you do not realize they have fallen off of your boat, then they will at least have their life jackets.
Its got reflective strips on it so that, you know at night, if the light shines on it, they will see the dog. There is also a handle on the back that makes it easier to grab the dog and pull it back on the water. So whether your dog is two pounds or 200 pounds, it is very important to have a lifejacket on your pet.
Alex Fees: Alright Amber tell me where SBTV.com viewers can find more information about the doggie ladder, and doggie life jacket.
Amber McCrocklin: At Pawsaboard.com.
Alex Fees: Pawsaboard.com.
